Galaxy 959 is an 11 meter radio that is a 4 watt am and 12 watt ssb radio. All 11 meter radios are legal whether they have a freq. counter or not.

My Magnum Delta Force is a nice box. The 350 Loan Star don't hurt either.

I like my galaxy 959 with 5' Firestik. Been thinking about trying one of those 10k whips tho

Fiberglass antennas just never worked well for me. The receive sounds much better on a steel whip and i believe they get out better.
    Just my personal observation.....

My 2 favorites are the Wilson 2000 or 5000 with a 10 inch shaft and a Monkey Made MM-9 Medium.

I talked to a base station for over 30 miles the other night on the MM-9 using my Galaxy 94HP.
Skip i have talked all over the US and several other countries on the MM-9.

The Wilson will do just about as well too.

Child of god read my mind, I have a cobra 50th anniversary lx digital, swing kit in it with big finals, schottky recieve, rfx75 kicker, road king chrome 56 mic, 18 ft belden coax, 5.5 foot Francis antenna. This setup swings 107 watts and I haven't maxed out the range yet confirmed but I know it talks 10 plus miles and receives about the same. I have less money in this than the cost of a stock Stryker and I'm puttin out more power, that's why I buy cobra and modify, I don't use side bands anyways, don't even understand the process!

107 watts from a RFX-75......Must have been on a "feel good" watt meter....
I bought a RK56 Chrome and threw it in a drawer....sounded like crap since they are no longer made by the same company.

100 watts of true RMS power will talk way over 10 miles all day long.

Not trying to be rude driver but i think a CB tech fed ya some bull....:biggrin_25513:

My radio does 135 PEP watts on a Bird 43 meter and i talk 30 miles at times.
When skip is rolling i have talked across the country on 100 watts.
