a hot oiler is a unit that can heat oil or water to a couple hundred degrees and then pump t under pressure into a well. They are also used to heat the tanks of fluid used for fraccing and so on
-
How much do they get paid?
-
never done it, no idea. as decent as anything else
-
I hear average starting pay is $16 per hour or $60 to $80 per load($21 or $80 to $100 in ND)for company drivers; once the fracking starts it's non-stop 14 to 18 hour days for drivers/CDL holders.... could be 2 weeks, could be months.... then, it's a waiting game.- But that's just hear say, everyone i've talked to claims making $90K-$115K per year in ND, but dont last more than 3 years before quiting....$65K/yr average other places, but am just an SSE and never been oiling in ND.

We are interested in career & safety oriented drivers for a well established & respected company with 20 years in the petroleum transportation industry.
Yep, I haul crude in Casper WY... expanding company with extreme growing pains. Busy busy, then slow... adding drivers, with no additional crude to haul, makes for small paychecks... waiting for new wells to come on line. When a new well comes in, we are busy keeping up until the pressure drops, and the well slows down to the normal. -

same company, we also have trucks in Greeley... same problems.
windsmith Thanks this. -
that's oil hauling for you, new wells on your route, things go nuts, then as soon as they can they pipeline it, and its off your route. hopefully you keep picking up as many new ones you lose, but its a crap shoot

Bart Larson Trucking (out of Idaho) is an o/o firm leasing out to Diamond B, Taylor and a few others. They start at $30/hr or 30% of what the truck makes. Mostly barrel loads, but a few of their clients pay for wait time. You will be expected to work at any hour of the day or night. The equipment is not great but doable. Their shop in Killdeer has no kitchen but does have a toilet and shower. The guy in charge is Todd (as of April 2013) and is a nice enough guy. Linda will be your first contact through BLT in Idaho at the corporate office.
Diamond B requires a very clean background. If your record has something on it from 30+ years ago, they will want a full explanation of who, what, when, where and why. Quite intrusive. Felons, don't even bother.
A friend of mine almost went to work for them but they forgot to tell him a few important items about their operation that changed his mind. He talked with a few of the drivers and said some averaged $1000/wk and some averaged over $1500/wk. Not great for oilfield work when you have to live in the truck. Sorry, no more info than that.
