The whole bunch of you need a different employer if they're using elog data to harass you. It's not the technology that's the problem, it's the jerks behind the desk that are the problem - and they'd be as much of a problem and extra-large sized jerks if you were on paper too. For all of the crap that get's thrown my way over the carrier I pull for, I have yet to hear one word from them over anything that is recorded by the elog system or the Qualcomm.

You're right . My carrier is an example why OOIDA claimed harassment and lack of privacy .the terminal manager mass e-mails naming drivers and their top speed of the month , speed when hard braking and more . Nothing to just up and quit over but I'm already drawing retirement checks . I can make $15,000 and still get full retirement . More than halfway there . Sometime in May I'll turn in the keys .

A lot of those issue are caused by poor house keeping, and not getting trucks in for maintenance when things fail. Someone should be tracking these issues. It's actually really easy, just run a report for pings, you'll catch the majority of issues, J cable failure, no perform x, gps, etc. etc. etc.. It's kind of fun, and very necessary. Otherwise a driver can pull a fuse and say it's not working and you just assume they need to routed in for maintenance. However knowing the reporting you can tell that it looks different than an actual failure.

Perfect example why E-LOGS are dangerous and not about safety..I ended my 11 hours here in Kansas City.I am doing my 10 hour off duty.I am WIDE AWAKE...I have been trying to sleep for hours and finally gave up.I even went for a walk and ate and showered...No can do..I tossed and turned.

In 2 hours i will be back on the road to do another 11 hours to Denver.I will then BE UP for 11+11+10=32 hours...Yep i am sure rested and safe...:biggrin_2559:

your example has nothing to do with eLogs, you're problem is with the hours of service.

eLogs are merely a tool, the problem with your example has to do with HOS. Elogs don't make you drive tired, you either choose to or allow your company make you run.

Elogs aren't harrassment, they're just a tool to track your compliance. Companies have a lot to loose and required by the regulation to make sure drivers under their authority aren't violating. The way a company chooses to act may be harrassment, but I could do that without eLogs just based off of the position history or the truck.

Right. No e-log is going to force anyone to move the truck one inch. And no carrier can make anyone do so either, unless the driver allows it to happen. Like has been stated, the elog is just a tool. No one can force a driver to drive on paper log either. Really it comes down to the HOS and whether folks like playing the odds of violating them when using paper. I am aware and agree that the HOS are basically nonsense, as you cannot pigeon hole drivers into one size fits all sleep patterns. In a nutshell, as has been stated already, it is the HOS and not the way of doing the logging.
