we have a hiring sign outside 123 now... Been called on break everyday, it was nice as they were all at midnight so I was able to keep a steady sleep schedule. Although yesterday I was back at 10:30am i didnt get called till 10pm for midnight. NBD as long as the wheels turn and I make the money im ok with that.

@Skinny sat for almost two hours, then I got a Deer Park 116, 126 miles, didnt leave till 7am, was worried with the traffic on the L.I.E. and I95. Got there at 10am, dropped/hooked was out by 11, got back into yard at 1:30, almost used up my hours but was ok, truck was able to pull

@Squonk thats expensive, luckily my eyes are still good, although one eye is worse than the other. one is 20-15 the other is like 20-35... My Harley Davidson gsun glasses costed me 16 for two (knockoff)

Well I took 48 off, came up to my 70 so I figure I would take the extra time to clear my hours and go home to visit my friends and family and take the girl out tomorrow so she stays happy and keeps coming here when im up here. Got 2470 miles, home every night, and thats not including any down time or hook time.

Still loving line-haul, go into work happy and leave all outside problems outside work this way I have a positive attitude while working... my mom still isnt happy about it (for some reason being a truck driver isnt good enough) but I tell her im making more money than my cousins who went to school. My dad likes it though, he does brag to his friends about saying how proud he is, same with my grandpa who has 3 million accident free miles during his time

@ACH1130 looks like you might have found your niche. To be linehaul make good miles and do turns everyday then layovers is a big plus. My area we don't do turns to often it's a layover. If your doing days too you got it made. Wish I became a LTL driver when I was your age or when I jumped into trucking at 28. But I wanted to do the whole Otr live in the truck lifestyle after 5 yrs I was done.

@Squonk truck drivers doing yoga?! Lol J/k saw a inspirational video of a Army Airborne soldier who had bad knees from jumps over the years gain a bunch of weight over the years, he was extremely out of shape start doing yoga lost a bunch of weight. It's a great vid wish I could find it, might want to search for it on YouTube.

That must be nice having that bid. I remember when I had a bid at Estes, was easy money. They try to work me 3-2 but it never works out that way. I'm still running short on hours. Been having me shuttle trailers if I'm close to running out of hours. Even did a local one day. That didn't go well lol. I'm making more than the bid guys but I sure am working for it. All I'm doing is mostly running to Fontana and then to Willows. Makes for a pretty long day. 518 miles going north and about 500 coming back cause I skip Fontana going home, usually. It definitely wasn't this busy last year. There is a reason for it and I believe you are right about that regional thing. I know that Fontana gave Downey a lot of freight too. I'm still trying to get used to it.

I don't think anyone on here can answer that question. It's all up to Holland. Sorry.

@squonk give it a try, I plan on restarting my p90x soon, just trying to get myself back together first and adjusted to the new work hours

@cool35 your getting more miles than me. I average 350-500 a night. Although I do get a lot of hook time at the smaller terminals.

@Ga400 sorry I cannot answer that question...

@radman yea I found my niche. I never spent or desired to go OTR. We only have 5 or 6 layover runs. Majority of ours are sub turns or long turns. A lot of 200 plus. Our furthest turn is Burlington, 265 each way, pitch black and a 100 mile 2 lane highway. Our second is Plattsburgh which is 255. That's an easy one as its just straight up 87. Worcester MA is our shortest long turn 172 miles, about 3-1/2 hours and depending on if you truck pulls and how heavy the load is with the mountains. It's a good run if your short on hours.

However if we get sent to Ohio or Buffalo, NY we can choose if we want to stay out for extra time if we choose. Only problem is all these old timers want the layovers
