I've seen a few 3/4 and 1 ton pick-ups with custom sleepers installed. I'd imagine you could convert the rear seat of a crewcab into a reasonable sleeper bunk a lot cheaper.
Dodge 4500 or good used Single axle tractor with sleeper.

Depends on whether you want to be able to legally log Sleeper Berth. If so, here's an option:

True. The DOT publishes minimum sleeper berth dimensions, the current regs probably aren't attainable in the confines of a pick-up cab.

N RV hauling . I'd advise against it . You are only paid loaded miles and deadhead wit0h0 00
Todays fuel prices would kill you .fuel prices will also cause RV sales and production to drop considerably .
Since FMCSR now allows off duty to be logged in a nonmoving CMV a legal sleeper is not needed . Just never log sleeper , just off duty . -
2 questions: Can you legally take your 10 hr break in the back of a pickup truck?
Wouldn't a sleeper come in handy to be able to log 'sleeper berth' if/when you are delayed at a shipper or receiver ...thereby saving your 70? -
I would THINK that off duty works just as well as Sleeper to save hours....
However personally if I ran a SA Sleeper truck I wouldn't waste so many miles/fuel going back and forth home.
On the other hand DOT doesn't pay much attention to my RAM 2500..... -
Don't think FMCSR allows you to do that (go Off-Duty) while staged up at the shipper or receiver in the process of loading or unloading. At least that's how we were instructed when I was with with one of the megaCarriers...running eLogs. We were, however, able to keep from needlessly burning our 70 by logging Sleeper Berth. (Of course nothing stops your 14, once started.)

Yes , you can take all or any part of your 10 in either seat of your pickup . Off duty in a pickup can be used anytime a sleeper could . The only advantage to a sleeper would be taking 8 hours to split your 10
-
Thanks for the info, however, I disagree with one thing; the major advantage of the sleeper is good, solid rest!
I like the AA sleeper.
(I realize we were talking regs.)

Get the cost of installation of that thing then figure loss of capacity due to sleeper weight and lower mpg due to extra weight and wind resistance .
