I have been reading TTR for years and haven't felt the need to post till now. I had a load of pulp on the wagon and was coming off of hwy 29 and merging onto interstate 39 north bound. Clipping along at a nice pace when a 4 wheeler pulls along side and is giving me the one finger salute and is pacing me. I just click ignore on my window and keep on moving but this guy won't give up. Now understand he has been pacing me all the way to the 29 west exit. Roughly 4 miles.
A bullhauler was a couple truck lengths behind me so I raised him on the CB and asked him if I cut this increasingly aggitating guy off when I merged. He just laughed and said the guy was saluting him since shawnoo.
This is where it gets kinda serious. The 4 wheeler followed, paced, passed, slowed down, sped up all the way to the hwy 107 exit. We are talking like 10 miles or so. The guy really wanted a word with me because he followed me north on 107 all the way to the receiver. I pulled into the yard and the guy drove past. I assumed it was over till I pulled across the scale and the guy was waiting on the road. Well it was time to get this resolved because it was only 5 miles from home and didn't want this "person " following me home.
The scalehouse girl told me the guy was driving through the yard while I was unloading so I told her to do the one thing that I am loath to do. Call the cops. They were pretty quick. Cops got there in about 15 minutes. Turns out the guy was very very drunk and was ranting about how truckers got him into trouble for his last 3 dui's! Count em 3!
Sorry for the long post, but in the years I have been driving nothing even close to this has happened to me!

You handled it very, very well man. Let the proper folks take care of an person like that, Your decision not to lead him to your front door more that likely saved HIS life as well as keeping your family safe...nice to see that some folks still have their priorities in the right order. BTW...did he get a 4th DUI?

Thank-you bullhaulerswife. Yes he was being cuffed and stuffed as I pulled out to go home.

I had one similar to that driving on I-94 through Chicago about 4 am. I was pacing two other 18's ahead of me. One 18 was about twenty feet behind the other but in the next lane. Here comes a 4 wheeler flying by me and he almost rear ended the one truck as he swerved hard in front of the other and almost lost it as he fish tailed. I was like wow! Meanwhile the one truck split off on I-290.

That wasn't the end of it. The 4 wheeler broke hard and the 18 in front of me had no choice to brake hard. As he closed in the 4 wheeler gassed on it. I slowed down and got some distance from them. The 4 wheeler kept messing with him braking and taking off. Each time a little worse. The other truck slowed down so much I had no choice but to pass him. Here come that 4 wheeler after me. He slowed me down once. The second time I didn't slow down and gave them a thrill as big eyes popped out the rear window. :biggrin_25524: :biggrin_25524: But they still didn't stop. Then I got the bright idea and pulled my camera out and started flashing away. That did the trick and they sped away. Little did they know I had a bunch of dark blurry pictures. :)

Well nice meeting you! Good first post. We'll see you next year! :)

Ha! It's a very special option they install on log trucks. That way I don't whine so much about the log landings they send me to. LOL!
