Fuel is the same as a company driver as long as you stay in network. Which I recommend as we get a pretty good discount over the pump price. As for getting your own loads, not usually but they will take look at what you got if you come up with something. If you find something it must be booked thru them, meaning they will call the broker or whoever and get it set up once you give them the info on the load. However in most instances they wont take a broker load unless they have nothing in the area or you have found a outstanding paying load. So the short answer I guess is sometime, lol.

I guess I'll have to do a bit of learning on that one, I don't even know what an "outstanding paying load" is... I have no idea what Maverick charges for loads, I only know they give me .41 per mile of it LOL. It's not difficult to stay in network, very rarely do I ever find myself somewhere where there aren't any Pilot or Flying J stops. If Maverick is paying up front for fuel, and they take money for maintenance and all that, it looks like you really can't end up owing the company money unless you just stop taking loads completely. I really like the idea of clearing more money each week, and being able to take time off at home if I choose, as long as I make the required payments.

Does your lease purchase go on your credit rating? Building credit is never a bad thing... And one last question and then I promise I'll quit bugging you LOL. Do you have to buy a Maverick Freightliner, or do you have a choice of other models of trucks?

As far as I know they dont report to the credit bureaus. As for home time be careful with that. Ive seen many a lease driver fail because he thought that he could take off whenever since he was his own boss. However you will find that those of us who are successful rarely take off anymore time than a company driver. There are even times that I may choose to stay out if I dont need to be home and I know I can snag a higher paying run going away from the house. An example of this is a Laredo Tx load out of Fort Smith. On a friday that is the opposite direction of home but it pays really well. Sometimes there are really good paying steel runs out of Ghent and Gary also. Im averaging about $1.70/mi all miles right now on the flat side. As for trucks (and this make zero sense to me and it didnt used to be this way but is now the policy) you must first complete a lease of one of their trucks before they will allow you to bring on something you may get from a dealer. Once you are eligible to bring on an outside truck it must meet age/weight requirements so that they are sure you wont break down on the side of the road more and will be able to haul anything the company trucks haul. The csr's dont know what trucks everyone has so they cant be booking loads for different truck weights.

Thank you again for the info!

I don't think I'll have too much trouble with home time. Right now I usually stay out for 3 weeks and take 3 days off, and even by the end of that 3 days, for some reason I'm itching to drive my truck again. I guess I really do love driving it. It's easy to forget that when I'm out on my 3rd week, but give me a few days off, and I'll be itching lol... but there are times when it would be nice to take and extra day or two off without having to stay out for 2 more weeks.

For anyone who might be wondering, Maverick does not currently offer IC for TCD, and they don't plan to in the near future. Was told by Joe himself that they tried a few months back with 2 drivers, but since a lot of TCD loads are broker loads, there's no fuel surcharge and the load rate is lower by the time the broker takes their cut. They said both drivers had to drop out of the program very quickly.

I was very disappointed to hear about that... But life goes on I guess. It sucks knowing that if I ever want to own my own truck, I'll have to leave Maverick... Don't much like that option.

Another sore spot with me and Maverick. However it also happens at many carriers. BROKERS PAY FUEL SURCHARGES,MAVERICK (AND OTHER COMPANIES) REFUSE TO BREAK THE FUEL SURCHARGE OUT OF THE RATE BECAUSE IT MAKES THE LINEHAUL(THE PART THEY GET THEIR SHARE OF) MUCH CHEAPER!! On a couple of occasions Ive asked the broker what the fuel surcharge is and been told it was rolled into the linehaul at Mavericks request. NOT COOL! Bad enough Im pulling a broker load but for a company to steal from me because they dont like the rate is just bs.

Yeah that sucks. Guess there's not much that can be done. I don't want to switch to flatbed, so I'm pretty much topped out on pay (.01 cpm per year ain't much) unless I leave. I don't see why they couldn't get it figured out.

I have a couple questions about lease.

-I see that Option to purchase at end of lease. What would that cost be around, i know matters what year truck you got and everything, but anyone have a clue what be for older and what for a new/newer truck?

-Average weekly truck payment $300 for a 2007 year model truck. What about a 2010,11,12 and 13?

-Maintenance Escrow Program. You do get that money back at end of lease, right (well of course if you have money in there lol)? Also do you get a discount on like tires, maintenance, repaires ect?

-Do they pay you % or cents per mile and how much?
