Yeah its very close to dealer pricing. You cant beat their deal for a no money down walk away lease when compared to other lease purchases or buying from a dealer which WILL require at least 10-20% down before financing.

So is Mav least worth it. Can you really make more money. And what about tax time do you have to pay back alot
-
My average take home BEFORE TAXES is about 65-70cpm lately. So you decide. Taxes for the 2011 year (havent got my 2012 back from accountant yet) was about $8500 state/federal. We have no kids though. One thing to remember, when you see $5k taken out of your check over the course of the year ir whatever amiunt you see,Maverick is paying another % on top of that to the government that you dont see. As a independent you get to pay that yourself. As long as you plan for it by saving its not bad but it can be a shock when you are used to getting money back because you overpaid in when was a company driver.

The dreaded "Self-employment Tax." YOU MUST PAY YOUR QUARTERLY ESTIMATED TAXES (Or save up over the course of the year)- OR you will have a HUGE SURPRISE come tax season!!!
-
Do you have to pay for your fuel or do they take it out of your pay check
-
I use mavericks network and it comes out of my settlement. They get a very good discount on fuel so its advantagous to use their network.
vhughes Thanks this. -
Are there really any down falls to being an Ic
-
Depends on your work ethic and what you call a down fall. There is no health insurance but supposedl now insurance companies cant deny you but I havent tested that yet. Vacation? You gotta save enough to get you by for the week you took off and still had truck payments charged. Those are the only "downfalls" I see. However if you think you are going to pick and choose every load, refuse loads that dont pay $2/mi,take lots of time off etc then stay away because you will lose your backside. Your starting a business and you have to see it as such and run smart. That means when empty,if your schedule allows, running slooooow to maximize mpg. It means when loaded setting your cruise at 60-62 to maximize mpg. Buying efficient tires to save fuel, lol. Are you seeing a pattern here? Fuel is your biggest expense. Making dmart decisions about time management, which items to buy for the truck etc. For example I use centramatics wheel balancers on all axles. Cost was about $600. Ive saved way more than that in fuel and tire wear.

I got cha. How about you least a truck threw Mav. As in Im not a big fan of the autos I would like a 10 speed manual.

Their new policy, for whatever strange reason,is that you must lease one of theirs first. Complete thst lease and you can then bring in an outside truck.
vhughes and The Challenger Thank this.
