Well, given what you said, believe it or not Stevens might be a good place for you. When I was there I sure got the miles, they have very nice trucks and APU's, and if I member right you need 1 years xp for a full time rider.

    onthehunt Thanks this.

Here is some posts that I have made before and I hope this help you with any information that you may need. I work here and if you have any questions always feel free to send me a message.

I'm going to retire here. This is the best company I have ever worked for. It's truly an open door policy here. The last day of orientation the President Jack Sharkey came out of his fancy office and shook my hand, welcomed me aboard, even gave me his cell phone number. I think a lot of that man. What president of a trucking company would take the time to not just meet you as a new hire but also give you his personal number if you have any issues that you don't agree with. Obviously its not to abuse that right. But yes, the most personal working experience I have ever had, even outside of the trucking business.

He's not just a numbers cruncher type president either. He started this company from the seat. Our program is designed by our driver committee. Thats what stands out to me. They actually listen to us here. I'm on a dedicated run right now. I get home every night and off on the weekends. I gross around $1100 a week right now. I took a different pay type. I'm driving on percentage because I'm able to make more this way. But you get to choose your schedule, lanes, mileage or percentage pay, I really couldn't ask for more. Plus I have 5 boys and the company pays for not only my benefits but my entire family. This saves me a ton of money.

I think their is local lanes in springfield, IL right now too. Just call the recruiters and they will fill you in on everything. No shadyness here. They even put everything in writing for you. It's not a perfect company, but what else could a driver really ask for?

There's tons of info out there. Not just this forum and the couple of haters that obvously got canned or something. Get out there and check out other forums and websites. Thanks for the private message and if you don't mind I am going to post it in the forum also. It could benefit others who read this forum too. I just got tired of answering the one guy who just keeps posting in this forum. It was dead for almost 5 years.

Check out Brenda's stuff on You Tube. She has several videos that she has done. She even had a film crew ride with her about the life as a lady trucker here.

Hope this helps Driver! Be safe out there!

You can also check out a thread that a lot of us current and past drivers have posted on this other thread on here. It actually goes back a few years. Hope this help y'all!!

    Thread: sharkey sucks

If you ever want to know anything just shoot me a message. I'll fill you in and I'll give you a few other drivers phone number and you can hear it strait from drivers who work here.

You may ask why I would do this?? I would just ask that if you did decide to come on board to do me a favor and let the recruiting department know that I referred you. We do get a referral bonus. So it would be helping me out too. The best way to hear about a job is talking to the guys who work here right!! LOL

Just do me a favor and help me out too. Alot of us are happy here and I wouldn't mind filling anyone in or even getting you in contact with other drivers to give you advice.

The only complaint that I really have about working here is that some of the trucks are 4-5 years old. But we are going thru an equipment rotation so that is why some trucks are older. But local drivers like me are the ones who end up with the older trucks. Dedicated and Regional guys get the pick on newer trucks. I guess they think that if your local you don't need a brand new truck. They try to keep the trucks 3 years old or newer but Mack is behind on getting us new trucks. But the thing I love the most is, that even though I am a local driver, I still get to take my truck home. We don't slip seat, EVER and even though I am a local driver, I don't commute to the customer. I get to take my truck home which saves me my own fuel and I don't have to put wear and tear on my car. Which also lets my son drive my car and the wife doesn't have to chauffeur him around!!

Isn't Sharkey sponsoring one of the trucks on that Weather Channel trucking show, "Loaded"? I only saw a brief glimpse of the truck, but I could swear it was one of Sharkey's Macks....

JCT could work out for you if you dont need lots of home time. They will give you miles for sure. Only thing i didnt like there - you have to stay on the road 4-5 weeks at least, other than that everything oranized very well - long trips.
