Well everyone I'm still here at Prime
Finally got my own company truck 2012 Frieghtliner Lightweight
When I finished my training (ended up doing 45,000k miles because they had no trucks to give out) I waited about a week and a half till they got me a truck. That was March 18 since then I have been running my but off with loads. Right now I'm in Ft Wayne IN waiting to deliver a Pillsbury load to Walmart tomorrow (got here 24 hours before appointment time lol) It has been a blast so far. My second Trainer was great he was a lease and told me the same thing that everyone here told me to wait on lease till i get the basics down. I told him that was my plan from the beginning. He also should me some trickes to getting the good MPG out of a truck
Don't know if you can see this but was number 1 last week in mpg at 8.76 when the fleet was 7.47 it paid a nice 4.4 cents a mile extra in the pocket lol
Gambler and i have been in touch and out of our class of about 70 we are the only 2 left that made it thru training. Personally I've not been home and seen the wife since Jan 3 my dispatcher is working me that way now. She has been a rock for me telling me to stay out and drive. She has handled several problems that came up and has been very supportive. If you don't have that at home you might as well not even begin to think about this type of work.
I figure another month or 2 to go into the lease program (only when I know that I can make it work)
Thanks to all of you here and I will keep in touchjomar68 Thanks this. -

Been running hard almost 10k for the past 3 wks. M.p.g staying around 7.6 hard to do better when I've been in mountains and as heavy as 47k. Any pointers to help raise it would be great. Avg.58 mph

1. Slow down if you don't need the speed to make it on time. 2. Watch your shifting. 3. Lay off the throttle... you don't have to floor it except in hard pulls. 4. Make sure the load on your tandems and drives are balanced with the extra always on the drives. 5. Learn how to run the hills on the pedal - cruise wastes fuel in that kind of terrain. 6. Watch how much turbo boost you're using - keep it below 10psi whenever possible.

A class of 70 new recruits,
and 2 made it thru training ??

It's not a mill like the other company schools. Most of those that drop out are rejected for physicals, background - but a lot are sent home because they don't belong in a seat. Even then, we end up with some new drivers who make some pretty serious mistakes once they end up on their own. Someone told me about half of the drivers are low-time, a year or so.
