That's not what I'm saying. All of us have changed jobs, including myself. The problem is when job hopping becomes a habbit. The driver in the OP changed 20+ jobs within 5 years. That's an average of one job every 3months, for a 5 year span. You can't say that isn't overboard.

have had 2 and 3 yr jobs.....i just get tired of people dismissing others because they havent had only one job in 30 years....that has NOTHING to do with how well they do their job or if they are a good driver or not.....

2 and 3 year jobs is fine and shows some stability. However, 2 to 3 month jobs does not. If I was hiring drivers, the OP drivers application would end up in the trash. Why would someone hire someone like that who shows no kind of stability and will quit at the drop of a hat?

let me give you an example....

we got off the road last august, came to work in the oilfield....hubby took a job and was "promised" a certain truck....was in good shape....well they had another driver drive it while hubby was in "training", he (the other driver) wrecked it (yes in 1 day)....so they gave hubby a diff truck. jaws on the 5th wheel wouldnt close all the way...3 inch gap. he refused to drive it...as would i, they said thats all they had for him to drive....so he quit...as would i.....

next job...he was there 6 months...after being there 1 1/2 months...it went to part time..altho he was "promised" it was a full time year round job.....he hung in there as long as we could financially (actually should have quit before then)..cuz the guys kept saying.."it will pick up".....well it didnt, it got worse....working WELL UNDER 40 hrs a week....

so he changed jobs.....he has 29 yrs exp...and the rest is the same...no accidents etc.....so because he was lied to and we couldnt pay bills....and he changed jobs, he isnt a good driver????

i see your point totally.....and agree, to a point...but sometimes things happen that you cant control and have no choice but to make a change...doesnt make you a bad person, a bad driver, or a job hopper....

Ghost Ryder - I think you have good point but I think your using the wrong the wrong statement... What Giggles is trying to say is you can change a job 40 times in 5 years this doesn't have an effect on your driving skills but yet it does have an effect on your employment status.... I think what you should be saying is that he is NOT a Good Stable Employee... I too would not hire someone who has been through that many jobs in 5 years.. It shows that he has no ability to commit to a job.. The fact is companies spend lots of money getting an employee hired, and then to have them up and leave cost more money cause then they need to hire another person... Not to say he actually has left each job in 3 months tho, so you really can't say he wasn't at one job for a while... Maybe one job he kept for 8-12 months and then the others he was in and out in a few days... Who knows the 3months you gave was just from doing math and getting an average...

doesnt mean you arent a good employee either....just means you have changed jobs more often than the next guy

i agree, i would look at length of job time as well.....but would also find out WHY..and look at the over all picture...accidents ,tickets etc......and does the driver have any bad references....i mean, what are the past employers saying???? you wont find one bad reference on either one of our records...

    Lilbit and mje Thank this.

not exactly.....altho i dont recommend changing jobs, unless you have to...dont let these guys get you down because you have....altho it is harder to find a good company to work for with frequent job changes...i would recommend finding someone who is the least of all the evils...LOL and stay put for at least a year...to help your record....

i am not proud of my job changes, wish i would have made better decisions and been more mature about some of them..HOWEVER i still stand by the statement, that it doesnt make you less of a driver, or a bad driver etc.....

Ok, let me elaborate myself better so y'all can see where I'm coming from.

Hypothetically speaking here, but let's say I own a small local trucking company of 12 trucks, and I require 2 years of experience as a minimum standard. I need to hire 1 driver.

Let's say that both Giggles and the driver in the OP gave me applications. Lets also say that Giggles only has 3 years of driving history, but with one employer, which for laughs is CR England. Even though the driver in the OP has more experience, I'm going to hire Giggles instead.

Stability is everything in this, and many other fields. You need to show some commitment if you want to succeed.
