Confused!!!

    WHA???? What the heck are you talking about? That will not happen at Maverick. First of all, you will not be driving 3500 miles per week as a trainee in the Trainer's truck. Period. Second, you will not be paid $300/week. Not sure what kind of screwed up experience you have had that lends itself to make you give this example in your advice, but I can tell you that it was not with Maverick. Here, you are trained to do the entire job very well, the way that Maverick wants it to be done, and you are not abused and made to run team with your trainer. Both of you will start and end your clocks each day at the same time. Number of miles during your training period is really not of any consideration. 3 weeks minimum, most request an extra week or two, which the trainers always grant if trainee wants it. OH! And its $200/week HIGHER PAY during training, and Flatbedders START OUT at .33/mile, then at 3 months go to .36/mile, then .39/mile at 6 mos, and by end of first year are at .42/mile. All of which is much higher than what you said it is at Maverick. I just thought I would straighten it out for everyone.

    Go with Schneider!
    Reefers suck...remember, you have to sleep with that noise constantly grinding away right behind your cab. They are usually pretty loud.
    I drive for Schneider and they have been pretty good to me. ( no reefers !)

    I average 2500+ miles per week and it's a very respectful, professional environment.

    Regular raises and a mostly reasonable bonus program....though I'm having issue with the bonus program atm. They just recently changed it...making it harder to bonus, of course.
    but still possible.

    Depends what brand reefer you have behind you, it's no big deal to me. I love a motor running when I sleep but then again I grew up on top of an 8V71 and 12V as a kid, miss the old two strokers really. Most good refrigerated companies typically run Thermo Kings and the new ones are quiet and even moving to hybrid units. Plus, if you get reefer experience, you can typically get a few brownie points down the road. More and more food is moving across the country now more than ever. Flat deck freight can have several deadhead trips. Typically places taking in large quantities of freight don't have much to return. Local reefer food delivery is #2 to dry grocery here as local driver jobs go. Intermodal is right there too. Plus you have a nice cool place to work in the summer!

    That was hilarious! New guy drinkin the cool aid! Thanks for straightening that out for everyone. Please enlighten us all of your superior knowledge you have obtained during your first year out on the road.

    On a side note, don't put words in my mouth! I never said anything about Mavericks pay. Where in my post did I say this is what Maverick pays? The miles and pay scale I posted was a generalization, wise crack on the mega-carriers. (though pretty close to the truth)

    Though I have had over 16 years of "screwed up experience" probably nowhere near your expertise of the 6 months you have been driving, but nonetheless I tend to know what I am talking about. However if I have any questions about driving I'll be sure to ask you.

    So Master of everything in the Universe of Trucking, please enlighten us as to WHAT YOU WERE REFERRING TO when you cite such an example as you did PLEASE. I cannot wait to hear what company you are talking about that gives that experience to a new driver like you say they do/did. I am positive that this company is one of the TWO OF WHICH THIS THREAD IS CONCERNING, RIIIIIGHT?????? If it is not, then..... well, Supertrucker, you have just cluttered a new driver's mind with your gooblety-gook and that is not what he was looking for in his thread and his questions. If you want to chat about some company that you thought you heard did such and such and sucks so bad because you say it does or whatever, go right ahead... Just do it on your own thread. Now, as for your other remarks, you can sink to whatever levels you want to with me, but I will not stoop down to your level.     I'm not sinking to any levels, but it was apparent I had to dumb it down a bit so that you would understand what I was talking about since you did not correctly read my post and just started assuming things. Nothing was said about your precious Maverick nor any other company specifically named. If you want to assume that then by all means.

    Also want to thank you for the permission to chat about other companies, though if I did I still don't think you would understand.

    Chompi must have lost the ability to recall his own words. So, who exactly is it that is assuming things... Hmmm... "These large companies just want to keep their seats warm and haul freight at a trainee's rate."
