Still looking for a 53' drop deck. Figure I will go aluminum. I haul mostly hay but get some grain bin loads ,bins measure 12' 6'' from top deck of trailer ,and on occasion tractors, so the lower the better. Found a aluminum with triple 17.5's. I've never been around 17.5's so was just wondering pros and cons. Any info and advise would be great, Thanks.

Short tire life, expensive tires, but a low, deck height

Around here tire shops don't stock as many, may be difficult to locate a replacement in a hurry. Once you locate the tires, they're a bit more of a pia to swap on the rim than a 22.5, not as bad as 19.5 on aluminum.

Usually guys will carry one or two spares. Count on brakes and tires annually. That's what I hear from the locals.

I run 17.5, if you're ordering the trailer, then you need a lift a dump auto tire inflators and 18ply tires, having a lift and a dump will help

Most inportant is to keep tire pressure equal. I one is lower than the one next to it they wear quickley.
SHC Thanks this. -
Auto-air inflation system is a must on ANY new trailer i think... just my .02

I'm sorry I'm running 19.5 tires, I'm waiting to hear back about adding a front axle lift
