Lock your fifth wheel pin closed, then push his trailer out of the way.

Did he have a room at the motel? If not, it should be towed for trespassing.

If you hook up to a trailer that is not authorized you could be charged with various criminal acts, not a risk I am willing to take.

...and you might get away with doing that, too....unless you are caught in the act. If it were my trailer and I saw you doing that, the first thing I'd do is pull out my cell phone & snap a picture of you hooked to my trailer, then I'd have the 911 dispatcher on the phone reporting a theft-in-progress. When the cops show up, I have the picture of you hooked to the trailer even if you did get it dropped by the time they showed up. As far as I'm concerned, you were intending to steal it and only dropped it because you were caught in the act. My goal would be to watch you leave in the back of the police cruiser...and even if you find a way to talk your way out of it, it would eat up enough of your time that you'd still be making that call to the company explaining why you will be unable to make that appointment that you just "HAD" to get to.

At the very LEAST here in Illinois, you'd be charged with a misdemeanor if the cop bought your story that you were just moving it out of the way:
In other words if you're going to do that, don't get caught.

so the driver takes pics of how he was blocked him in before he hooks to x's
company trailer to move it so he can get his trailer out.call the law all you want.cops will dismiss it and wonder what sort of crybaby/idiot blocks another driver in then calls the police.

It sounds as if his tractor was still attached, so how are you going to move his trailer?

I would have left a nasty note taped to the drivers door.

My thoughts exactly.I have never see two trucks hooked to the same kingpin! Once the OP found out the driver was nextdoor at the restraunt they could have went over asked for the driver and resolved the problem like adults!
