I guess I'm going back OTR once more, there are just zero jobs in my area. I live in the south west part of VA, about 60 miles north of Kingsport TN and I'm looking for a company that will run me anywhere other than the north east. I'm a 17 year driver with a super clean record, I've done my time, paid my dues and I do not want to run any where north of the VA/ NC state line. I'm not trying to imply that I am better than anyone else, I'm sure there are people here with way more time in the me. I just think that a driver should have a choice as to where they run and like I said. I'll run anywhere else but up north!

Question is. Are there any companies that run just the area I'm wanting to run?

I have to tell you, I'm not looking forward to this. I know how bad many companies treat their drivers these days and I know how much everything has gone down hill with trucking in general but if I have to suffer with all of that once more to pay what few bills I have then so be it.

But I tell you this. I will pick up cans from the side of the road and shovel cow crap with my bare hands before I run the North East again!

    Numb and Chinatown Thank this.

That is the ONLY way i ever found happiness in ''trucking''.I had to create it myself.Until that day,i was being tossed around feeling like ''road slime''...I was told every no good rotton LIE,just to get me there.Once there, every single company i worked for changed the ''game plan''...

    Never again...

Furniture Row Express might be a good choice. Very easy people to work for and good home time. All trucks are 2011 and newer. Call and ask for Don Wilson.

Never mind. They do run north a lot but they have a higher than average starting pay.

Unless you are willing to re-locate or be away for a long period of time then you may be stuck. Even if you do either one in that area you know there isn't much. My family came from the Drill, Honaker , and Garden Creek areas Of Va., not too awful far from your locale....they moved out for the same reason no jobs, especially when the coal industry slowed down. Good luck , you might try some local beverage companies like Pepsi , or Coke , or try the beer companies , hard work but you'd still be home at night , unless OTR is what you want that is. Good luck.

I don't see the problem with the NorthEast. Some of you act like like its the closest thing to hell. You don't want to run the northeast but you have no problem with Chicago. Smh.

You live in Virginia. That's on the East Coast if I'm not mistaken. Get used to seeing the NE.
