The hotel manager had the legal authority to have a vehicle towed from the hotel's property...shame the wrecker didn't show up in time.
There is a lot more to that statute than JUST making an unattended vehicle roll away. "A person, without authority to do so, to tamper with a vehicle or go in it, on it, or work or attempt to work any of its parts," Did you have authority to tamper with that trailer in any way? Did you have authority to back your rig under it and latch onto it? Did you have authority to raise the landing gear? Did you have authority to connect your air lines to that trailer or to release the brakes? Forget about the "set in motion" part for a minute...you broke every OTHER clause of that law. It doesn't say you have to do ALL of those things in order to be found guilty....any ONE thing is enough.
Should this bother me?

For the umpteenth time the TRAILER was still HOOKED to the other drivers TRACTOR

In the OP, sure...but since then the topic has strayed a bit to include a trailer dropped blocking yours and what someone might do to try to get access to their trailer. Conversations tend to evolve, so try and keep up. Just because a comment is irrelevant to the original post doesn't mean that it is irrelevant to the conversation.

Just TRYING to keep things on TRACK but what the heck , lets talk about the weather or ice fishing as trailer dropping was never an issue raised by most posters , but hooking onto and moving a trailer STILL hooked to another tractor was.
However vandalism was a few times and the almighty CALL the COPSLonesome Thanks this. -
I find the U.S Marshals to be far more effective.

He probably pulled in there thinking, yum I'm gonna eat some nanner pudding! I better park out of the way so I don't block anyone coming in. Hmmmm, nanner pudding! What's this trailer doing here, he must be on hometime. I guess Ill.....yum, nanner pudding, I can't wait!!
I would of walked back in the buffet. He shouldn't of been hard to find. The big guy in the corner with nanner pudding on his face.Gfinch, aiwiron, DragonTamerBrat and 2 others Thank this. -
ONLY, If you're parked at a specific Wal Mart, in a specific town in Ohio. Only then will the US Marshalls intervene.......Logan76 Thanks this.

To those who say I need to grow up just don't park in front on this mans old blue freightliner classic....If you do and you leave your truck leaving me stuck or wont come to the door to talk so I can ask you to move be prepared to deal with the things that happen....I don't park where I am going to block you I find some where else to park. Its not a hard thing to do.
Only a few things bit me in the rear. People you park stupidly, people you fly threw the parking lot, and people you plug up the passing lane for 20 miles....
