I am having trouble with my cb radio having a high swr reading. it is reading over 3 on channel 1 and under 1.5 on channel 40. I really have no idea as to what it could possibly be. However I changed the coax cable gave the antenna mount a ground and a different antenna and nothing changed. The only thing I havent changed is the mount and stud for the antenna. Could this possibly be causing the high swr? Ive been told that having an untuned antenna wont cause the swr reading to be extremly high so I am thinking its maybe the stud or mount but I just dont know. Can anyone help.

Not sure what you mean by untuned? but if the antenna is able to be tuned I would think from you have described that is most likely what needs to be done.. If it is tuneable you would want to make the adjustable tip longer..
-
What I meant by untuned is that I just took the antenna out of the package and stuck it on
-
and your trying to figure out why the SWRs are high?
-
Well I tuned the antenna with a Swr meter and can't get them to hardly change so the antenna's not the problem... however I did notice that when the trucks off the swrs are lower but when the trucks on it reads higher swrs and the antenna light on the radio comes on when keyed up
-
You don't tune the antenna with a meter. You tune it
by changing the lenght. -
I used a meter to help me tune it...I have a tuneable tip
-
Your radio its self may not be grounded well enough.
-
Is there a way to possibly check that

What kind of vehicle are you having this problem with?
