i was just fired from big g express
i had a very bad truck accident last Wednesday the11.
i was driving north on int 75 just south of the Georgia, Tennessee state line headed north,
traffic came to a dead stop for no reason, i was in the middle lane at the time going 68 mph,
i was in a BIG pack of cars and truck, i came around the bend in the road and saw traffic stopped.
there were cars and truck skidding all over the place.
i ran into the back of a flatbed at 65mph,this completely destroyed my truck and the back of the flatbed trailer.
after all was said and done my truck got towed, i got a ticket for following to "close" witch i wasn't i was 3.0 trucks
behind the other truck. i had 46,000 pounds in the trailer at the time. and i had no place to go!!!!!!
i had to go to the hospital and do all the wonderful after accident work up!!!!!!!!!!!!!
big g sent another driver to come and take me back to the terminal in mt Juliet,TN
they made me sleep in another truck over night, then in the morning i had to meet with the shop foreman to discus my fate.
i new i was going to get suspended but didn't think i was going to get fired right then and there!!!!! by the time i was told i was fired there was a cab there
to take me off the premisses!!!!!
they never said anything to me up front about this, i was told to wait in the break room.
i had to pay for my hotel room and had to wait for my neighbor to drive up from Florida to come and get me from Tenn.
Big G Express' driver turn over is at 95%. Their CSA score is at 70%, they do not let new driver get any miles . my average weekly miles was only 1200-1800!!!!
they would give all the miles to the senior drivers, and starve the rest of us!!!!!! big g is a VERY bad company and will lie there ### off right to ur face!!!!!!!!!
i would NOT recommend them to anyone.

Big G csa score 10% vehicle out of service, 5% driver out of service, by far one of the better carriers on the road. You say you had a 3 truck following distance at 68 mph, should have been 6-8 lengths at that speed, with 46,000 on board. This accident was very preventable. NO I do not work for Big G, I'm retired with a perfect driving record, 42 years without a ticket or accident. Being fired is probably one of your smallest worries, you can bet the flatbed driverwill be seeing you in court for his injuries.
pattyj, redeye7174 and BigBluePeter Thank this. -
who the #### do u think u are to tell me how to drive? u weren't there. i had more than enough space before the accident, plus u didn't work there!!!!!!!!!
i know for a fact that there turn over rate is at 95% and there csa score is at 70% so don't get all preachy with me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Go to FMCSA Snapshot, your figures are way off, I get my information from the federal goverments website, not from my sister's, husband's,buddy's nephew. If you had enough following distance you would not have had the accident and then been cited for it. Have you ever heard of the Smith System, work well
BigBluePeter and Lonesome Thank this. -
it's not the company's fault...I agree with fat trucker. had you increased the following distance you might have avoided having an accident so don't get all upset with him because you should be mad at yourself... right about now you personal recommendations about big g trucking don't mean much...just sayn...
BigBluePeter and pattyj Thank this. -

If Big G is that bad, then you should have said thank you for being canned. Now you won't have the worry of quitting such a "terrible" outfit. Also, if your following distance was good enough, then you wouldn't have rear ended somebody... maybe if you weren't distracted or looking far enough ahead, you wouldn't have rear ended somebody... at least you are alive.

Learn how not to tell on yourself.
1. You say you had 3 truck lengths but was only able to slow down 3 mph b4 hitting a truck at 65. So I'm guessing you meant 3 seconds.
2. You were not looking ahead and I find that to be the norm with guys flying down the highway. You should of noticed break lights coming on b4 u rounded the curve. (smith system/look ahead)
3. Now there CSA score is even worse because you have had an accident. The company was fine until you got fired. Good luck with getting another job. If you do I'm sure the CSA score of the company who hires you will be in the tank as well. So juice up your story if you plan on trying to find future employment.pattyj and joseph1135 Thank this. -
like i have said over and over, traffic just came to a dead stop!!!!!
even if i had 1 mile to stop it still wont have been enough.
yes yall r right i'm glad to be out of there. and be ALIVE, and not to have killed anyone.
as for the other driver he refused treatment so he's on the hook for his medical, not me!!!!!
i'm not going to argue there turn over rate or there csa score. i know i'm right.
i'm glad yall have taken interest in my post so thanks. -
i'm not worried about getting another job. it was my first accident in 8 years. so i'm sure any company will be glad i have gotten this out of the way all ready and be glad to hire me
