I wonder if they would accept an occupational accident policy in lieu of the workers comp? Some states in the U.S. will allow you to use either.

Not sure G/MAN. We are Canadian and have WSIB so I didn't need to look into other options. I do know that I had to call the WSIB and give them my account number and they would fax proof of coverage directly to the freight broker. That process has changed now I think.....pretty sure the new procedure is I give my account number to the freight broker and they call WSIB themselves.

Not sure why some Canadian brokers ask and some don't. Also not sure what would happen if a US carrier wanted to pull the load.

we include a worker's comp hold harmless agreement in the packet- carrier fills it out stating he is in complaice with his state WC laws.

    W9, insurance, authority

I am a broker operating in the US, and that is all I would need to set you up with my company. I also ask for signed dispatch/rate confirmation to be returned ASAP (but I would only send the rate con once I've received your set-up info). It's easiest for me to set you up if I receive you're W9, insurance, authority in a single email .pdf attachment although fax works fine too.

If I were you, I would save a standard draft of an email conatining the attachment and a subject line that reads "So-and-so trucking co. Set-up packet". forward that draft to anyone who requests it. You can do this from your phone as well if it has email capabilities. Message me privately if you want more tips to make the set-up process faster

    I forgot to mention:

It's important to get that info out quickly and confirm that you're broker received it.

If it's a very hot load and I haven't heard from you or received you're packet after a reasonable amount of time (unless a delay in sending was discussed at time of booking), I might assume that you are ditching me and give your load away
