I brought two pallets of Dannon from Logan Utah area to Anaheim Kalifornia one time. Lightest real load I have ever had.

The last time I was in wi was in dec after the first big blizzard (but before most of the roads were clear). Now my next load delivers there tomorrow at 0400. It seems I only go when the weather is bad.
Btw, anyone headed through Chicagoland today, don't. It's flooded so bad that I saw a police boat on i355. (Ok, it was on a trailer, but it was a rigid inflatable, and the tow vehicle had his siren on going somewhere in a hurry). Lots of closures for new lakes. -
Do not work for central refrigerated. That would be the biggest mistake of your life. You will regret every second there. The dispatchers treat their drivers like useless dirt and they'll harass you over little mistakes. You'll make no money whatsoever and spend so much time sitting. The trucks are very slow and old. They'll never have an empty trailer when you need one. The food at the west valley terminal is very expensive and nasty. They'll fire you over one parking lot accident even if it wasn't your fault. The mechanics in Conley are slow and don't know how to fix anything. The payroll department will steal your money and put it in their paychecks. I repeat do not work for central refrigerated. Consider yourself warned.

LOL... Someone pissed in your cornflakes!! Been with Central for over two years, and know folks that have been with them for MANY more. Also know some that left before the year was up... Some by choice, some not. Hubby had a parking lot accident within the first year, and we're still here, so that gives lie to one of your points. I wonder if attitude had anything to do with your experience??MJ1657 Thanks this.

Disgruntled ex-employees are par for the course these days. There are real grievances out there, but most people don't expect to have to work for their money anymore. When they find out its not all roses and daises and big fat paydays the decide they got the short end of the stick. A new employee working on my crew once exclaimed in the middle of the first day "This is work!" as a complant. Needless to say it was her last day there.
I've been here a year. I haven't been disrespected (with the possible exceptions of Wolff in safety and some after hours dispatch guy). I wasn't fired for my minor preventable. My tucks have all been <3 years old. I've kept moving pretty consistently and, as a result, have been anything but broke. And personally, I think central grill makes a pretty good hamburger.
If you go into this job so GD full of yourself you're gonna have a dm who's sick of you that leaves you sitting, and when you explain to safety why it's not your fault you hit that parked truck (yes, I heard someone doing just that) they will fire you. To err is human, but to blame others and not learn from it is just another accident waiting to happen.unloader, Lady K and Arkansas Frost Thank this. -
Lousy attitude! I imagine that piss poor attitude is about 95% of why you didn't make it and why your DM treated you like crap. This is an adult career for mature even keeled adults, if this does not describe you then you got what you deserve. DM is a driver manager, sounds like to me you may have needed a BS "baby sitter". There is only one type of "it wasn't my fault" accident in a parking lot, that's if you get hit by someone else! Every other accident that happens in lots can be avoided by simply taking your time and using your mirrors. Oh yeah and GOAL! Central will not fire you for a single screw up. Post your driver code here and let us get the real story!jomar68, Lady K and passion4polishing Thank this.

Sorry for being so blunt

attitude, attitude, attitude like ice train put it. Probably one of the guys you would see at the terminal or truck stops crying about miles and late all the time. One accident doesn't get you fired and payroll messes up sometimes but usually will get it fixed soon or later. Reminds me of a guy at a truck stop that couldn't run 500 miles in a day and was late all the time cause time management sucked.

Consider yourself warned!! Darth Vader has returned and DOES NOT work for CR. Not every person & co are meant for each other. Hope he finds a co he enjoys.
When I find shangra la ill pass on the 20. -
Ok, you mean do not get your first year OTR with any large company. The conditions are crappy and the odds are stacked against you because the company can replace you by Friday. It's also a lot of hard work for little to no appreciation and the money is not equivalent to what you actually put in to make it out here. There are people I talk to, sunsets I would otherwise never see, and little moments like sounding the air-horn for a car full of clapping toddlers, that make my bad days very worth it. Everything is on me, screw-ups to successes. That is the reason I keep pushing forward. On my worst month I still managed to average 500/wk and while that is not worth being away from my family, I have to remember I'm paying $150/wk for an insurance deductible where I screwed up (for the 2nd time!)... So them firing you just because you made a mistake is a joke. They kind of have to expect it. Too many people squeeze through that have no business being out here and the people most suited for the job are probably over confident risk takers that can only learn by trial and error. I've gone a couple of weeks without a check once or twice. But then I usually get 1100-2000 because I've been rolling my hours over into the next week until I get a fat check. If you have to live paycheck to paycheck you should probably be somewhere a little more stable anyways because you're not able to handle yourself without someone holding your hand. Don't know anything about the Conley techs but what overworked mechanic is going to be a pleasure to deal with? Take care of your equipment or complain until you get something better. I've been in a 2013 Pete 386 since day one so I don't know what you mean by old equipment. Anything puts me down more than two days and I'll be calling the terminal manager if they can't fix it! Quit acting like a baby and handle your business or go home and whine about how tough you had it out on the road for 2 weeks! It takes too much time, too much effort, and way too much complaining to become a driver anywhere. At least here you can keep moving if you're motivated. I am very lazy compared to me ten years ago and I still manage to drive 2,500 - 3,600 miles a week. I do think payroll takes advantage of people not knowing or understanding their systems starting out, but ultimately that's on you. If it's my money, I plan on gettin it. Yes, the DM'S Are a little rude sometimes but have you met some of these whiners out here?! I give the DM back whatever they give me because really there's no point in tiptoeing around how you feel. If they are costing you money, find a way to get someone you can work with. Or just give up. Because this is WORK and no one wants that anymore!!
