How long does each day last at their orientation?
When the day is done can you leave the campus, are their taxis near by or some local town?
Down time at orientation ?

I see you're on the tmc thread. If their orientation is like every other company. You have a long 2 days, from like 7:00 to 5:00.The last day usually 3rd day is short, usually done by noon. You can leave the grounds and they may have a shuttle bus or van to take you where you wanna go as long as its on their route.
mje Thanks this. -
If your talking about TMC in Des Moines Iowa, Um,,,,,No. Orientation is a 2 week process. The bus leaves the Baymont at 6 am Monday morning no matter what time you got in Sunday night and if your not on it, plan on finding a way home. You will get back to the Baymont about 5pm for the first week. Week 2 changes up with everyone on different schedules driving with a trainer. Some will be during the day and some evening. Week 2 is also load securement training along with simulators and driving the trucks. Not much time for sight seeing. Plan on getting on the bus at 6am and possibly not getting back until 7 or 8pm.
There are no courtesy cars, shuttle bus or vans provided. They do stop by a Wal-Mart twice a week for supplies. Other than that, you can call a taxi if you want to pay for it. With the busy schedule of learning, it would not be a good idea to miss the bus. If you do, find a way home.
I'm not trying to be harsh. The question was asked and this is the reality if you want to get on with TMC.
Good luck -
Nice thanks ! How long is the bus ride in the morning ?
-
The bus ride from the Baymont hotel to the training center is approximately 20-30 minutes.

Main thing is, if you do choose to go out at night, dont come back drunk. While in DSM, you are on a 2 week job interview. You should look and act professional. Hotel staff does work for TMC and will report unprofessional drivers/trainies.
They do have a pool you can use, pool tables, a lounge. Taxies are available on your dime, but there is not much down time. If you miss the bus in the morning you are fired. -
Great that's the kind of info I was looking for!
-
There is nothing around the hotel. So bring cash because the first couple nights your going to be eating delivery or from the TMC cafe.
-
If you are experienced, which you may be. Orientation is 1 week for most with 2-4 weeks out with a trainer depending on your experience.
I can't talk for the students out of class, but experienced drivers will be back at the hotel anywhere between 4pm and 8pm...
