Should I just pay for a refresher or just try Swift orientation in Gary

Question for you. Do you know if Swift will take you or want you to do a refresher first?

 

yeah you will probably do a road test, just do the best you can and just dont hit anything, they will put you with a mentor to train. If you fail the test they might offer a refresher through Swift but I dont know for sure.
And welcome to the forums, im fairly new here too, been reading this forum for months but finally signed up once I got things rolling to be a trucker.
Since your a female just watch out for the sexist pigs, we had a decent looking younger female trucker in our orientation and men just went crazy like they have never seen a female before and you WILL hear and get comments in this field but you probably already know that...

 

I went to to the Terminal in Pennsy fresh out of school no road test just 3 day orientation that was a joke then out with a trainer for 240 hours.

 

you already have experience correct? If you have a clean DMV record they would be glad to talk to you. They told us today they need a lot of drivers right now.

 

With 5yr old training and 0 experience most companies will want you to take a refresher course. You should talk to recruiters of companies you are interested in to find out for sure.

 

some recruiters tell you what they want you to know to glorify things and make stuff sound better than it is (not saying its bad at all)
Sometimes they lack knowledge I have seen, I would tell the recruiter to find out, i asked mine a ton of questions and he had to look into some of them and I kept reminding him until he told me. Also make sure you have the documents you need, they seem to fail at giving all the information, there is another orientation thread from a couple days ago I posted things needed.

 

Don't sweat Orientation if Indy is anything like pennsy They will make you do a quick road test And I didn't see anyone fail that. 3 day orientaion and pretty much a no fail Good luck to you.
