I'm a new "driver" and I'm wondering about the companies that hire from south Florida.. I know of shift and Trans am... one being automatic and I'm told to get on with a company that does manual or I will be stuck with limited opportunities
I didn't mention Crst Haven't heard so much bad about one company .. since Cr England
Tried local.. that was a bust all want minimum 6 months experience or a year mostly

May Trucking dot com out of Pensacola. I know it's not South Florida. Might be worth looking into them.

They have Terminal in Florida.. hopefully they hire down in south fla.. many times they will say the home terminal is too far will see
any one else know about another companies ? -
I stated out with CRST. They weren't so bad. US Xpress has an on again off again hiring policy out of South Florida.
Once you get experience the prospects open up. -
how was your weekly pay starting out ? if not exact pay range ? I'm willing to work and I understand you can't start at the top,but from the forums and even talking to a former CRST driver they said many weeks 400 bucks ? I'm like how is is possible for it to be so low driving team ?
Will look into Us express I know they're on and off a again in south florida
since you have experience right now what company do you work for ? -
I actually made decent money during my training at CRST. My trainer was a lease so we ran hard. He taught me how to run to make money. Starting pay is low at .22/split mile, but it goes up pretty quickly. Sure, starting out you will have some $400 weeks. After 6 months it will be higher. After a year I was averaging around 800/wk. It all hinges on you. If you are late all the time you will not get good runs. When I was there they had a rating system for teams. We were a number one speed rated hazmat team so we ran constantly.
Now I work for USX. They weren't hiring out of here when I first started. For you the starting pay would be higher than CRST after training. Still the same deal as far as having to prove yourself before getting good miles. If you run teams the starting pay is one of the highest in the industry as far as I've seen.
As you know it is really hard to find a decent company to start with out of our area. My options were CRST or Carolina Cargo. I didn't even consider CR England. Once I got a year and a half in my options opened up. Now, at over 3 years my options are pretty much wide open, but I haven't found anything that suits me better than USX yet. -
