I talked to TMC today you have to be 23, so that puts me out. I also talked to Werner they wanted me, but did not want to really even speak to me until I was 21. The last two companies, and the best so far are Maverick, and Roehl trucking. Both companies wanted to take down my information assign me a recruiter, and even offered to send me a brochure. Maverick so far was the most engaging and willing to work with me. However, I am going to look at the other companies, and still have plenty of time to sleep on it.

Maverick only has autos, as companies go they like to hire amnual to auto than the other way around I almost went to Mav. but since this would be my first company I went to Prime that way after a year if I leave any company will hire not just ones that have auto. just my 2 cents

Did you learn how to ride a bike, and then get off of the bike for a few years, and then try to ride the bike again? I bet you did not forget how to ride that bike. Ridiculous arguments made about it IMO. But whatever... Maverick is a great company, treats their drivers very well and is a place that you can be happy at for years and years. That should be a person's number one consideration, not how many gears their manual truck has to make them feel cool or whatever. You can go to a company that has the most tricked out looking "super-trucks" with manual transmissions and if the company treats you poorly, what good does that do for you? If you want to drive a Maverick truck in manual like most of us do BTW, you can. They are not ONLY automatics.

It is not my problem, it is the industry that has a problem with it they do not equate experience. I have witnessed people first hand fail the test in a manual multiple times then pass it in an auto. Your not comparing apples and oranges here, and if it is no big deal then anyone should be able to pass it in a manual. How many people have missed a gear in an automatic, none you hit a button. With this being said I like Maverick, and the auto does not bother me at all, but there are two different issues here. The other issue is the certification of truck drivers, in Manuals/Autos. This is not my opinion there has been great discussion by many including politicians, about changing the requirements. I would like to know some statistical data on crashes, caused by someone passed in a auto then driving a manual at the crash do to lack of training. Just to make a informed decision on the issue, it may be that it is a non issue.

Oh, my apologies. I did not know that you were talking about someone passing a CDL exam. I thought the discussion was about companies with autos vs manuals. I did not realize some states allow test takers to take their cdl exams in an auto- never heard of that. I took mine on a 9 speed Freightliner. Sorry if I was off on a different tangent of discussions.

It was about someone passing a cdl exam, and about companies that only like to hire a manual to auto according to love pitbulls.
