Thanks man. I can't wait to become a lone transporter of goods. My trainer and I were up in Jersey several times. Most of them were just passing thru though. Matter of fact we didn't have any deliveries there but was there quite a few times.

Well I am gonna give a short update. I finally got assigned a truck. Hopefully it's in good condition because I'm picking it up from the dealer and not a disgruntled ex-driver's house. I have to get a ride from one driver in Nashville to Chattanooga where I will link up with a driver and head to Salisbury MD. While some may say that sucks I'm just glad they didn't have to put me on a bus. I despise greyhound. I prayed to God that my bus ride to orientation would be the last time I ever have to board a bus again. So by this time tomorrow I will hopefully be in my own 2011 International prostar+. I'll send another update when I actually get in my OWN rig.
amiller Thanks this. -

Alright my fellow truckers and soon to bes, here is a long awaited update. Today I finished my first solo haul. I got my own truck on Tuesday evening. My tires were shot so I immediately shot down to the terminal in Emporia VA since it was only like 2:17 away. Well I thought it was a commendable act since I was thinking safety before getting my first load. But that wasn't the thinking of my DM. I got told that next time I will be charged out of route miles because I wasn't cleared to go to the company yard and get service done.
Well got new tires after about five hours in the shop. They had to replace all 8 drive tires. Well I get my first preplan and get ready to hook up to the trailer that I brought with me the night before and some other driver was hooked to it and told me that his DM told him to pick that one up. Well me being new just let him take it but that's the last time that will ever happen. The preplan clearly stated that I couldn't bobtail to pick up the load cuz the shipper needed an empty to replace the one going out. Well it took another four hours before I could get a location of an empty trailer which was like :45 away. No biggie I get the empty then head to pick up the load which was an hour back the other way.
I finally pick up the loaded trailer and start heading to my final destination of Wilton, NY which is about 200 miles from Canada. By now it's close to 2300 and I've been up since 0800 when the shop was supposed to be opening. I make it as far as Alexandria VA before I can barely keep my eyes open. Ain't no load worth more to me than my life so I found a Walmart and shut it down for the night.
It was probably around 0300 meaning my clocks wouldn't restart until 1300. I wake up around 1000 and am bored outta my mind so I go back to sleep for another two hours. For anybody from the east know that the only time you wanna be driving around that area is late at night because the traffic is atrocious. Well I was stuck in it for about 2 1/2 hours stop and go. By the time I finished that my left leg was on fire and I was glad that my trainer taught me the most important lesson and that's glide shifting or whatever it's called because my leg was smoked. Because of traffic I was 15 mins behind on my delivery. I haven't heard anything yet but I'm hoping that because it was a drop and hook that it's not a big deal. Not a good way to start out and I hate being late.
Well that's it for now. Stay tuned...Bigdubber, amiller and bigtruckin89 Thank this. -
Hope things are turning out better since then.
Try to keep "us" updated when ya can.
But, even more important... be safe out there!
God bless.
