Fined for delivery early

This is where "people who hate their jobs" may be the problem.

Example, a person who hates his job unloads the truck and is happy to see the fine.

A person who is being proactive says, "I will certainly unload you now, but they will charge you $ 250 because you're early. You might want to go get some lunch and take a nap. Then come back at the scheduled time."

But this small consideration may be too much to ask these days...

 

well do like i do. next time keep the load for yourself. i bet you dont make it 20 miles before they call begging you to come back. did that to walmart when they changed my times with out asking me than said i was late and there was 150 dollar fee to dock plus lumper. i closed my window did a u turn and headed out next thing i know the district shipping manager is calling me. told him i now own the load i was going to sell it for the fuel i put in the truck and if i made more great if not oh well he was not getting my money. i also told him to read my added page to the signed contract that stated any rejections for non damaged freight are waived of any and all insurance claims and become property of bad dog trucking....needless i got an extra 500 on the load and still did more work for walmart.

 

some deliveries are time sensitive


you get there too early and they have nowhere to put the stuff and have to make room

 

This receiver could have just told you if they unload you early you'll be fined.I imagine thats how they make alot of their money back by not telling the drivers they'll fine them if unloaded early.Raise hell with the broker for not informing you of this.You should'nt have to pay.Trucking its like youre ###### if you do and ###### if you don't

 

No, they don't HAVE to make room. They don't HAVE to unload you. They can tell you to come back at the appointed time. To go ahead and unload the truck, then fine the trucker is not only wrong, but screams to me of fraud.

 

Exactly..I cover all ends before i even turn the key and push the button...This is the ''Lack Of Knowledge'' drivers this Industry wants and promotes..

 

A 430.M platform is being made. I have the next piece. I'm in line, @ 4:05 am they take it off my trailer. I don't even have to get out! Straps are rolled up, Bills Signed, Later.

 

They threatened to fine me up in Windsor at the Ford plant. I had to turn around and wait out on the street for 45 minutes.

 

Say you have limited space for drop and hook. If you go in early and drop you may not have an empty to hook. Dispatch sends you elsewhere for your empty and the customer has an empty taking taking up his limited space. Now 1 extra trailer isn't bad but what if 10 or 20 drivers do it? On the other hand my trucking company charged if we arrived within the given window and an empty was not available. We had several accounts set up that way. We also charged detention after 90 minutes but it started from arrival time in the window or from a stated appointment time and not arrival time.

 

i've never had a problem. least no one has told me. and the only appt times i've had are monday. but i'll deliver on saturday most times. because it's home and i don't want to spend all day delivering and picking up on monday so i can leave out.
