For anybody thinking of pulling containers out of the Virginia ports for these guys, forget it. They pay .34 cpm, with an average of 400 miles per day, and the trucks, well on average 10+ years old, mostly Freightliners, Macks, and Internationals. In short junk, they have a cadre of long time drivers who don't/can't go anywhere else, and a revolving door for new drivers. No direct deposit, and insurance is a joke. There claim to fame is the oldest drayage company in Virginia, 1896, and that's it. Stay away.

I was just filling up one of the trucks my company uses for shuttling trailers at the E fuel place right by there, and I looked at their trucks and said to myself that at least the POS I was driving toady wasn't THAT bad.

Almost every truck that pulls out of those ports are junk regardless of company and the ports themselves are a pain I can unload a family dollar load faster than what it would take to do a drop and hook at nit or apm terminals most days .

Nothing could be further from the truth!! Alot of the older trucks you see may not look pretty but are very mechanically sound trucks; they have to be as much as VA DOT sets up around and at the ports and empty yards!!
That is becoming a problem!! While NIT has made improvements to operations, all it takes is a little hiccup to turn a 1-2 hour port trip into 3-5 hours!!
APM seems to constantly have computer glitches, when working its great, if not I hope you packed a lunch!! -
In agreement regarding most of the trucks pulling containers are junk, limited investment, maxiumum return. My point however, was that this company puts NO money back into the operation, and pays employees the minimum. Sure it may work for some, but not others. Referring to the statement of crappy looking trucks but mechanically sound, not these guys, what you see is what you get.
