Thank you for the helpful reply. I worked for Northern Sales Company which was contracted with oroweat. So I ordered and delivered bread products. It was decent money at $67,000 a year.
I just dropped out of truck school, did I do the right thing?

As opposed to letting my kids down every time I have to tell them I won't be there for their first ball game? first school play? a family BBQ? birthdays? holidays? etc.. etc.. etc.... Yeah, okay...NavigatorWife, TAK12LLC, Blind Driver and 1 other person Thank this.

Truth hurts don't it? Are you mad bud? Sorry you had a hard life and from the sounds of your attitude, a lousy one full of regret. Do you tell every person out there that it's either long haul trucking or welfare? I'll be sure to be on that exit ramp for ya, and don't for a minute think I won't make a sign either... It will only take one finger to hold it up.
pattyj Thanks this. -
that was an uncalled for remark. This guy is trying to make a life for him and his family so give him a brake.
NavigatorWife and Nighthawk268 Thank this. -
Thank you pattyj. I have been on the phone all day with the school, my training consultant and other students that I got along with going to school. Every one of them has came to an understanding of the choice I made and only hope I return to the field when things even out at home. Especially when the kids are a bit older. I am confident of the choice I made and proud that I at least made an effort to do it. Not trying at all is even worse. I made sure to leave when no money or extra time would be wasted on something that I came to realize that I would not utilize to the full potential.TAK12LLC, NavigatorWife and pattyj Thank this.

Everything takes time for a reason.Trucking will still be there if and/or when you decide to give it a try again.Im proud of you for giving it a try.Next time you'll be at full confidence.I also don't blame you for not wanting it now, your family needs you.Trucking can wait. But when you do try it again and train with a carrier, plan on being out for a month or longer. So for now you're making a wise decision waiting till your kids are older and will understand when dad needs to go on the road. Also by that time you can take the kids and wife in the trk with you.
