I wasn't sure whether to start this as a new thread or put it in chat room. I have read comments here and talked to drivers 1 on 1. I understand that it depends on the driver you talk to, the day they are having, so on and so forth. Company drivers replying to this will fullfill more Q&A then others. I'm starting to hear that Millis is taking some wrong turns for its drivers and might start to become a driver mill. More Millis veterans respond, the better. Please be completely honest with the good, the bad, and the ugly. Thank you.

Everything that made them a good company is still in place, and they are far far far from becoming a cdl mill company. They are just going through with a well intentioned poorly thought out trial with cameras. If it had just been a dash camera no one would have thought twice about it. I would venture a guess that after the trial is done, the inside cameras will go away and they may put dash cameras in all the trucks. Even if they rolled cameras out into every truck, they would still be far ahead of swift,cr england, and the like.

DB hit the nail right on the head. Millis is a great company. I've talked to other drivers from different companies and I personally feel we have it way better off than a lot of them do. At Millis if you are safe and deliver on time they will pretty much leave you alone. We choose our own routes. Get fuel when we want. If you are driving by the house and want to go home for the night to take your 10 hour break they don't care. Other companies tell their driver exactly which way they must travel to get to a particular destination and when and where they must fuel. I spoke to a Stevens driver about a month ago who they made stop 5 times during a 600 mile trip for fuel. Millis doesn't partake in that type of micromanagement. Millis is also a great company for someone with little or no experience. But they are far from a CDL mill. They are very selective in who they approve for training. They want you to succeeded. Most classes are limited to 6 students or less. There are exceptions to that. Here lately the class size has been a little closer to 9 students. But they have the instructors in place for those occasions. One thing I've noticed tho is here at Millis you will find a lot of drivers who have been here for 1 year or less and a lot of drivers who have been here for more than 5 years. Not a whole bunch of in between. I personally am knocking on the door of completing my first year with them and have no intentions of leaving. It would have to be one heck of an offer for me to walk away from here. There will always be things that some people don't like with a particular company but that's going to be anywhere. Millis was the right choice for me and they fulfill my needs as far as what I expect out if a company.

I just started the CDL school in Cartersville yesterday. All companies have issues of one kind of another and there is always going to be something "we" don't like but I honestly think that Millis is the best place to come learn our trade. I absolutely love the fact that you still have the freedom to make adjustments in routing, fuel, home time, and the option of 4 different pay packages that best fits your needs. MOST companies don't put those options and that kind of trust in the driver's hands. I used to dispatch for Covenant Transport and Eagle Transport and I know that these companies controlled every aspect of the driver's day, even if they didn't know it. So for me, this company is a blessing. I am not only glad to be here, I am proud to be. Just read the posts of the many drivers here. They are very helpful and most lack the smart-### negative response you can easily get from people in the trucking world (read the other company forums on here). So, my hat is off to all the Millis drivers that are already working here, you have set a standard and created a positive image with this company, at least to me. Good job!!

Millis is my first company. Ive been here 6 months OTR by myself plus school. They give me good miles, i make good money. Theyve never been untruthful to me, i stay out of my dispatchers way and let him do his job he does his. You can put a camera in the bunk for all i care, im a very private person but could care less about the camera deal. Im here until i start a family, then want to go regional. If the moneys good, millis is good with me.

you guys and the camera thing make me laugh. if you arent doing stupid crap while you are driving you have nothing to worry about. you drive and pay attention to your surroundings. if you are texting or up out of the seat or have headphones on or masterbating or anything else stupid then you deserve to get fired or worse. and yes i have seen all of those over the past year.

I'm a trainer at Millis and yes it class size are increasing from 6 to around 9. The training is still the same. We offer quality training to students no matter the size of the class. (Most other schools have around 30 per class.) You get practice on backing on our obstacle course. You also get real road driving experience pulling a trailer on highways and back roads day and some nights. I can't tell you where to go to get your training, all I can say is for you to do your own research before committing to any school. Good luck.

Handyman, I didn't realize you are a trainer. Do you train in Cartersville or are you a driver/trainer?
