Typical representative of the "me" generation. Its all about me, I'm the only one that matters, me...me...me.
Sad part is...no matter how long someone like this is on the road...their view point will never change. Can't teach common sense.
Sent from my EVO using Tapatalk 2flightwatch, kerosene jockey and gearjammer42 Thank this. -
I've driven fast trucks, and am temporarily stuck in a 62 mph truck now.
It's sad you geniuses with the fast trucks are so dumb you haven't been able to recognize the company trucks you are coming up on that are going to be driving at a predictable, slower, speed.
I'll also get some of these 'fast truckers' who will be daydreaming, picking their nose, or doing whatever, at 57 mph on a flat road in a 65-70 zone...stay behind them for a long time, then finally try to pass at 62. Usually these supertruckers wake up when a lowly company truck is passing them, floor it, shake a fist or finger, then slow down again so you creep up on them.
Reminds me of the blue hairs in Florida.
If you've got a fast truck with the ability to get you tickets on the open road, use it to your advantage.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to outrun most of these governed company trucks...you just have to maintain a speed a few miles an hour faster than they can go.
I remember years ago driving a truck that would only do 65, on a long trip from the NE to Utah. A competitor company truck loaded at the same place, going to the same place. That company had large cars that would do over 80 mph. He passed my 7-8 times a day for three days, honking, and waving.
each time an hour later I'd see him sitting in a rest area or truck stop.
I ran legally, yes, I would have liked 5 mph or more crossing Iowa and Wyoming, but still beat the 'big trucker' to the destination.
Even when I have a truck that will do or exceed the posted speed limit, I pick a speed appropriate for the conditions, and use the cruise control. The people who aren't using cruise control or making an effort to maintain a target speed (where possible) drive me nuts. -
To get back to the original point can way say 14 hour rule and e logs.

I usually drive 57 mph when I'm loaded. I pay for my fuel, so I don't care what you say about it. Whenever I have to get down the road, I have the truck that can do it. From experience, I can tell you all you slow "fast" truck are just as bad about moving over. What's up with that? You get on here and ##### and moan, yet, when someone needs to pass you, you hog the passing lane. If a triple digit truck is coming up on you, move over!

Whens the last time you saw a truck doing over 100? I saw a truck do 90 on I75 in FL once. 20 minutes later, he had 4 full growns behind him, was handcuffed, and in the back of a squad car.
It's not 1974 anymore. Even if your truck can do over 100, you have to be ate up with the ####### to drive it that fast. My car can do 0-60 in under 5 seconds. That doesn't mean that the cars that can do it in 8 have to move out of my way because they're slower. Some of you drivers are going to end up giving yourselves heart attacks from all the stress that you put yourself through worrying about how other truckers drive. If you are in such a rush that an extra 5 or 10 seconds is going to make you late, you were late before you even started. It's like the 4 wheelers that fly around the big truck, and cut him off to get on the off ramp...only to be stopped for 2 minutes by the red light.
We demand respect, expect to be treated as professionals...yet act like selfish, undisciplined 5 year olds.Scorcher21, othertruckernate and okiedokie Thank this. -
Reckless driving and criminal damage to property. Good answers to a discussion about courtesy and safety.
I intentionally left the names out of the above quotes because I want to make a point, not pick at anyone in particular.
In 15 pages only 2 references to a major reason why so many of the drivers in slow trucks do the things mentioned in this thread that they might not do otherwise.
They are racing an elog clock.Last edited: Apr 27, 2013

I agree, slow down in parking lots

Actually, it's the guy that chooses to pass then expects the guy he's passing to slow down and let him in that's representing the "me" generation. "I" want by and "YOU" should adjust YOUR driving to accommodate "ME".Hardlyevr, Ghost Ryder and Lone Ranger 13 Thank this.

Regarding courtesy when being passed, I do let off it to allow another driver to pass me more quickly. That being said, I used to drive a creeper. To you creepers who think you "need" to pass because you can go 1.3 mph faster than I am driving before you hit your governer, think about how much time you will honestly save. Seriously maybe 10 minutes...unless you catch a red light or two, then you put yourself in dangerous situations for nothing. Like I said, I'll slow down and let you in as you come screaming up to the construction site, and once we clear the roadwork I'll kick it back up to 70 and blow your doors off.
