A temp job is just that....a temp job. No job security and you can be out of work at the blink of an eye. I hate temp employers...it robs the workers of money and benefits. McKee has been a solid company in Chattanooga for ever but there are other things out there that are as good or better. you have to decide what you want to do and OTR driving isn't a typical job...you have to WANT to do it not be forced to do it.

Yeah I know, been through temps before. Was even hired on once. But they are usually a scam taking advantage of the economy. I don't expect McKee to close up due to this, I just don't foresee it in my heart and mind that they will keep any of us around permanently. I have been told that they did hire some temps that were past their 90 days but that was about 2 to 2 1/2 months ago and I wasn't qualified yet. I have purposely kept my CDL current just for moments like this. Getting pushed into it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing as I have been considering it alot here lately. Sometimes certain things happen that steer you in certain directions to confirm what you should have done all along. Maybe I just trying to wait for that. I just need to keep my eyes and ears open for anything here out of the ordinary.

This question is for anybody that the thought has crossed their mind. Would a student be allowed to bring along a small camera and video their experience from beginning of class all the way through training and so on? I know baritone has his after the fact, but, I haven't found anything like this. Not that I'm necessarily going to do it, just wondering.

Ok, I've noticed on the MTI site a requirement for the schoo is a stable work history. I've have also noticed when applying, its not the normal app of asking about work history. Truth of the matter is I've had 12 jobs in the last 10 years. Yes, I know. Four of those jobs were with the same 2 of the same companies. I would leave to pursue different career ideas, it didn't work out, and I was able to come back. So basically I've worked at 8 different places in that time span. I know the economy has been rough the last few years in the subject but that wasn't my issue. I guess I wasn't happy and looking only at the financial increase. Anyway, Craig didn't ask about all that, just wanted a recent check stub for where I was at now. Back in October last year Alice did because the app was more detailed. Just wandering with that history and that being a requirement maybe Craig isn't telling me and when I do the app at class and they probably go over all that stuff, I will be sent home due to not being stable.

No, I haven't called him to ask. I'm waiting on how this temp thing is going to turn out. I did talk to our HR today about an application for permanent employment. After all the details were discussed over the phone, she said if there is further interest, they will call me back. May not be good in my opinion. Please don't be judgemental guys, I know I've made mistakes. I think I have mental problems.

If you get accepted to school its just that, they don't send you home because of anything but a failed drug test, or not able to grasp how to safely drive a truck or back a truck, or lying on your app. If you fill the app out and go to school and complete school you will go otr for training. They don't do this bait and switch bring in a hundred guys and find reasons to send home 80 of them.

I fit right in then. I'm told I'm not normal and can be very assertive, well liked, hard worker, and a smart #####.

Ok, didn't mean to make them sound like that. It just occurred to me. I think I get over paranoid at times due to what I've seen. Why did they change the online application. Now you just put name, address, phone, and experience. I think thats it. No work history though and the school requirement ask for stable. How would they know that before accepting you. Check stubs only prove where your at for the moment and how long, not the rest. If they only ask for the current one, they don't know till you get there about the rest. I just wander how they deal with unstable work history.

I know when I applied, I was called by Millis and they asked for more work history and stuff over the phone. The they did their background check and about 5 days later, I called back and they were waiting for a reply from one of my past employers. Once they got that, I was called and told I was approved then got an email that said Welcome to Millis with my class and orientation dates. So I believe they do the background stuff before you get approved.

Shane, the best thing for you to do is quit asking these questions on this forum and call Millis and ask them all these questions. It is better to get the right information from the company to address your individual concerns because I don't think that HR in the trucking world is a one answer fits all kind of deal. I know what my welcome letter said but I am also waiting till I finish orientation and get out with a trainer before I count this as a done deal.
