I hear what you're saying, I'm just no seeing it obviously because I have nothing to compare my OTR to in real experience. Anyway, thanks for the insight.
Oh, and my 0-1 years experience is now up to 7 + months solo. I think local is in my future for sure, but like I said before, I'm enjoying the OTR experience and can't see myself tiring of it in the near future.

Good job, Congrats on the move to solo. I did OTR for about 3 years or so back in the 70's..ran between NC and California/or the Northwest. then I landed a job in the food service industry and remained there for almost 30 years with the same folks retiring in 2011. They certainly do have their quirks and differences to be sure.

I did not read all of the posts, sorry if this has been discussed...
Where in the FMCSA rules is there anything addressing WHO or WHEN someone can be a "trainer" ?
If I have had a full (unrestricted) CDL for 3 days or 23 years I can legally be a "trainer". If you have an (unrestricted) CDL that you got yesterday, you can drive without ANYONE in the truck.
If im your "trainer" and I trust you to drive while im sleeping, that is legal.
The only issue is insurance, or trucking company policy. Most supermegacarrier fleets have a policy of putting a new driver with an "experienced" "Trainer" LOL, the problem is that many of those companies cant keep anyone around for more than a few months so if you have 3 months experience, CONGRATULATIONS! you're a trainer. Its scary but it is legal. -
It has be come "We the Sheeple". P.T. Barnum would have a field day, probably be President if he lived during our times, LOL...

trust me, they still do. my wife and i went there to give some current experience after she had been off the road for a short while. I was able to train her, but they had people in the trainer class that only had 6 months experience under their belts.

I've been following Matt (1776filmz) for awhile now, he has some good videos. Sure doesn't like Wyoming though...roadlt Thanks this.

roadlt Thanks this. -
Maybe he is, never said he wasn't, I'm not one to judge. More power to him, can't blame a guy for trying to move up in life. It sure isn't his fault if the company promotes him and allows him to train others. I think the issue , for some, is his lack of experience in driving. From my understanding, the company trainers job is not how to teach one how to drive a truck, but, to teach company policy and procedures. Of course, experience does help.

Yeah, Matt's vids the best. The Canadian guy is funny, not sure if he is trying to be or its that Canadian accent.

Not only that...but also to teach the lifestyle...To make it, you need to fit-in in the culture of trucking. For many, it takes years to get "used" to the trucking lifestyle...How to handle the trials and tribulations of road life.
