Good evening. Today my truck started to act up. Boost pressure is not building to what it used to be, and also EGT's are skyrocketing unless I back out of the throttle. Went through the obvious checklist including new fuel filters, cleaned the air filters, re-tightened all the air to air clamps, etc. with the same results. Thinking it might be turbo/wastegate related. Any input would be appreciated!

had same problem with my c15 last couple weeks, come to find out one of the nuts on one of the battery terminals was loose/striped put a new one on, and its amazing the difference shes running like a champ. These newer motors are very sensitive to fuel restriction and low voltage I have learned, so check all your connections......hope this helps

Thanks Allen I can give it a shot. I put new batteries in a couple weeks ago and made darn sure everything was good and tight, but will double check.

I'd check your hoses between your turbo - air to air - engine intake. Blown hose, missing hose clamp. If not presure test your air to air. Hope this helps.

Well all the hoses check out good, hose clamps tight, battery cables tight, pressure tested the air to air and it checked out perfect. I pulled the intake boot back from the turbo and grabbed ahold of the impeller shaft and can feel a very little bit of movement both side to side as well as forward and back. Turbo time?

The only other thing I could think of is getting the over head done, but cannot imagine that being the issue?

Upon doing the overhead, they found 8 broken/cracked valve springs and bad head gasket. She's getting an inframe overhaul....problem solved!

Sorry to hear that, much more expensive fix than what originally had thought.

But curious if you can keep this post updated? Have a 2003 2KS serial C12 & asked the local CAT shop about pricing. The Platinum*I think* deal was $18,000 + 3 year warranty. That did not include anything outside of the motor, turbo/starter/alternator etc.

Not too worried about spending a few bucks on it as it's been a great truck for me in the 5 yrs i've ran it. It's in a 2003 pete 379exhd daycab. My mechanic if changing it from the MBL back to a 2KS for me as well so we can run the fuel temp wire and whatnot. They quoted me a "Gold" overhaul package for that $18,000 dollar range which included a turbo, injectors, and a waterpump i believe. I think this was with a 4 yr warranty. They will credit me back since I had just put the new turbo on it, which i believe would get me in that $16,500 range.

    LBZ Thanks this.
