    i would not want a synchronized transmission. cant float gears with a synchronized gear box without wear to the syncros i personally don't want to be clutching every shift. once you know how to drive a truck a non synchronized gear box will shift smooth as silk without even thinking about it.

    Yes macks are built in Australia too, in parallel to the Volvo (European cabovers, not the VN's) line in Brisbane

    also, disc brakes have been available on "American" trucks here since the early/mid 2000's. KW also has their own full range of Electronic stability gear developed here for a few years now, mostly consisting of Wabco & Knorr-Bremse components

    edit: here's the video of Mack Australia

    following the build of a Mack Trident running an Mp8 and MDrive, as well as Mack diffs

    also evident is the increased Volvo influence in the Australian Mack, from the D-shaped tanks, to the engines (e5/epa07 Mack runs straight scr, not egr+dpf)

    Well, Mack did offer Renault Hub Reductions when it was part of the former

    I'm confused by the Meritors also. It's like they are built by Mertior for Volvo, as they have a different model number than the standard vendor-axles they supply to other makes

    as far as using rope for windshield i really don't see nothing wrong with that;it may be old style but you now what?you can have a windshield replaced in 15 min or less and then you are back on the road when if you have it glued you will have to wait for the glue to dry;YOU CAN'T DRIVE THE TRUCK UNTIL IT'S DRY and that it can take a couple of hours;another old style thing is 2 piece windshield on some american trucks wich is more economical and cheaper to replace;so like i said i don't see anything wrong with that;as far as the production.....wow that's another story bro;they are decades behind europeans in quality, design and fit and finish;i have to say that i used to be a mack guy but that's it for me;i bought my first one in 2008 and it had a lott of deffects to many to list here;in 2011 i bought my second one with the hope that it will be better and that first one was just a truck let's say built on a friday,but you now what?it was worse and for me this is the end of the line with mack;i can say that their fit and finish is the worse in the industrie and they don't really have quality control;i don't now how can a truck leave the factory with all those defects; doors that don't shut properly,door seals that come off because they are not glued properly,bad window seals ,crapy dash panels and the list can go on;volvo had invested mill of dollars in that factory to bring it to the 21 century but they still have allot of work to do;the way i see this is volvo brought mack to the 21 century even if most of the mack fans belive the oposite;volvo wanted nothing more but the mack engine factory so they can built the engines for north america;this was the whole deal when they bought mack from renault; THE FACTORY .

    if the windshield is installed properly the water won't get in between the cab and seal;if they don't clean the cab and the ruber seal you will have corosion, but that takes a long time to do some real damage;as far as 2 piece windshield you can by one here for 25$ if they are on sale;
