Majority of these mentioned jobs pay well. They are specialty units and require a degree of knowing how to operate them. A majority of these specialty trucks require a swamper. This would be a great way for an inexperienced worker to get the training.

In fairness to pinner, if you made 120 and get a company truck you are not exactly in an entry level position. I'm always curious to see what other people are doing and what it pays

Hi nitrogen. Back in Canada yet? I am home for the w/e. Packing up & moving all to storage. Back to work Monday.

With your new designation, is it more simple to cross into the USA?

Let me clarify. Company truck is shared with other locals who choose to travel back and forth home eberynight. Usually 2 or 3 to a truck. That option is there for all. Hours are guaranteed day in day out. Good deal looked long and hard for this and plan on keeping it. Labourers operators get the same option.

Hi Oil Patch Trucker. I was born in Canada and also have US citizenship; should I get my CDL in Washington state or in Alberta? Either or, I am getting it.

I don't have any attachments anywhere, no girl, no debt, just me. I own a motorcycle and I have been riding all around the continent, but I am tired of little jobs. I have been in reforestation for 4 seasons, also know as tree planting (ain't no hippies plant trees with us, they quit because its hard work), but it's extremely back breaking, theres only 3 months of work a year, I'm over it.

I will move anywhere and live anywhere. Working in the Alberta oil sector as a truck driver is what I'm going to do. I hear there are long hours and lot's of money to be made up there. I am ready to work (once CDLicensed). I am highly motivated. I read that you hire guys. Well if you can't hire a rookie, then I will apply to some companies. But you seem to know what's up, that's why I am sending you this message. I've been reading a really useful thread that you've part taken in a lot I've noticed. Let me know if you can help me out. Good day.

    -William, 22.

Just trying to get my post count to 7

Okay so I am taking I should just head to Alberta and do it. I think I read Sanjel hires rookies and pays for CDL training and a bunch more. When is the best time of year to show up?

I am 22, never drove a truck. I must get my class 1, and I've been reading that Sanjel and Trican hire rookies and pay for their training. Any info is much appreciated. I just have to figure out how to get started in this. I know the best thing to do is to show up and get the work. When would be the best time of year to do that? I've read May to August is a good time to look for work. Any info is much appreciated. Thanks
