Thank you for this quote( both of you), I am thinking about the option of buying a truck and leasing it on with someone we(wife and I) know. -
I am thinking about buying a truck and leasing on with a friend of my wife and I. If memory serves right the company name(been a couple of years since I asked him) is Landstar. They haul containers out of the DFW area.
I just copied information on the steps to starting the company and will look at it all.
This may sound weird but I will put the questions out there. Speculation from me at this time is that it will take purchase of truck, registration of truck, permits, tax numbers, bank accounts, laptop, all-in-one printer/scanner, air card, business licenses, insurance, and plenty of cash to handle the operation of the company.
Am I reading this right?
About how much cash should be available for a 6 month time period?
Limited use of credit cards in emergency only advisable?
Any advise is appreciated and thanked. -
The process of leasing on with Landstar is lengthy, and can take months. They are picky from what I've heard. Also, they may require x number of months as an O/O before they take you on. One of the landstar O/O will likely chime in and brief you on those details.
If I were you, the first thing I'd do is to become an OOIDA member. They have a great business assistance department that will be able to answer nearly all of your questions, and they will help you get everything lined out. Plus as a member, you enjoy many discounts and benefits that equal big cash savings.
Good luck.scottied67 and Nolelover61 Thank this. -
