I'm really thinking of going with JB intermodal, the passenger thing would be a huge plus.

I'm in Neenah. I know there's a lot of JB Intermodal freight here in the valley and a couple drivers park over by Master Fleet right off of 41, so I'd think my chances of getting by the house during my time out would be good.

JB Hunt intermodal has customers in Neenah, Appleton, Oshkosh, Green Bay, Wausau and Rhinelander that they go to on a regular basis. When I started I was off on Wed, Thur. Then they moved me to Tue, Wed because I had Dr. appointments. Weekend work fell off and they moved me to Sun, Mon off. When I left they were pushing 48 hour restart max. If you pick up and deliver undamaged freight on time and communicate any issues you won't have any problems. Since they no longer have a Wisconsin board I can't say how often you will get by the house but you should be home every week for 34 - 48.

I was thinking the same about getting home during the week also. And the pay seemed good. Just not completely sold on it yet.

I know they tend to put your hometime in the middle of the week when you 1st start out. I know it's not the end of the world and you got to pay your dues. It's just that this time of year sitting behind the wheel on the weekend when you'd rather be cruising up and down the river looking at the hotties can a real downer.
I'm pretty much sold. The equipment I see on the road doesn't look bad. Pay sounds pretty good, of course even if it paid only 25000 it would be better then where I am now. Don't know what the benifits are like cost wise. I know every terminal can be different but what's the idle policy, what I've come across seems pretty vague. I know these are question that can be asked of the recruiter but who trusts them completely. I've got other questions but its getting late, and wake up is about 5.5hrs away, so I'll leave at this for now.
Take care, and drive safe driver

When I worked for JB they used a per cent on idle policy. The trucks have bunk heaters that work great. If I remember correctly they want the trucks to idle at 20 degrees or lower. In the summer if it is warm I used a fan. Too hot I idled the truck. Corporate sets the policies and the people in the terminals must follow them. Depends on what rule you break and terminal policy on the way it is handled. If you start taking 65 hour restarts they will talk to you about only taking 48 hours max. Speeding in the yard might be a letter. Great benefit choices and always mandatory safety training which you are always paid for, just make sure you can log it.

The recruiter I talked to said I could take sun mon off if I wanted not sure if they can decide that or not. And it could move to weekends off in about 6 months or so.

Yeah Big B where do you work now just curious because I live in Appleton.

I'm sort of embarrassed to say. I took sometime away from Class A to get some issues with my fed med cleared up (OSA and HBP)so I took a job driving bus mainly cuz of the flexibility for appointments. Now that everything is taken care and I can get a 1 yr card instead of 3mos. It's time to go back to Class A.
