I would look into EPES, Old Dominion Freight and Ruan Transportation. I've heard good things about all three. They're all located south of the James.
Good luck! -
Thank you. I really appreciate your reply

My company Houff has a terminal there right next to the Marlboro plant. Home weekends for 48 hours. It's regional work but pay is good probably $60k yearly.

Glad to help denhinn. You may also want to look into Abilene. JohnBoy just started a new thread on them about three weeks ago.

I know a guy with Old Dominion. $ .55/ mile . Real happy . Terminal to terminal. Sleeps at hotel. Might sell my truck one day and do that.
Outlaw 13 Thanks this. -
Do you know any more about this one ?? Like where they are located & where do they hire from ?

Old Dominion is LTL. They have terminals all over. Best to go to their website and find the terminal nearest to you. And since we're on the subject, I run linehaul for Southeastern Freight Lines. They're LTL as well and a VERY good company - the best in my opinion. I spent a little over a year researching which LTL company I wanted to work for, and with lots of luck I got on with SEFL in the city, and through a new terminal opening was able to transfer into linehaul. Point is, I was not and am not biased...I just did my homework and am loving every minute of my decision. I'm only 26 years old, and expect to retire from here. Hourly pay is around $22.55 (varies a little regionally) for city drivers. Line makes 55.4 cents/mile, plus hourly pay for breakdowns/delays. $8 for every set you break or hook (which can add up quickly). Good luck.Xile Thanks this.
