I was the guy in the black shirt and hat talking to Greg for a little while yesterday while you guys were doing the parallel parking. My truck was getting a service done.

No kidding! I wish I had known, I surely would have said something. I was the middle aged guy with the grayish goatee in a t-shirt and wearing either a camo Vanderbilt hat or Harley Davidson hat. I was sitting at the picnic table between turns.

Well, today was test day for backing. We had to successfully parallel park, blindside parallel park, alley dock, and offset back driver's side and blindside to pass. After 4 days of practicing, it was good to get the test over. There are 4 people in our group and 2 passed and 2 have to re- test certain parts or the test tomorrow. Tomorrow we will do some driving in the morning and then finish the testing on backing for the 2 guys needing to finish.
Greg broke out the grill today and we grilled out burgers and hotdogs. This brought out a few drivers from the yard who joined us for lunch. We have really had a nice week and all of us have enjoyed meeting and talking with all the drivers. It's really nice to know that Hesse guys are more than willing to help each other and share their experiences with us too. Thanks to all of you that have come over!cookiebeta Thanks this. -
Thanks, Solo, for all of your posts. I'll be beginning training in Trenton, OH on Monday. Your updates have been very helpful.

Hey Solo, what are the classroom hours? What time do they normally start and roughly finish during the week and have you been doing any saturadays yet?

I was at the yard backing last week and we generally ran 7:00 to 4:30 most days. The guys out driving came in earlier in the morning and were still out when we left. They also did a night drive one day as well and I think it was a 4:00 pm to 1:00 am day for them.
so far no Saturdays -
ok thanks, how long yall got left?

This is week 3. Then 3 day orientation

We finished MTI today. We did our roadtest this morning and everyone passed. I was sweating this a little bit as my shifting was fine during the week and seemed to get worse as the week went. Seems like my entire group was doing this and none of us knew why. Today was different though, we all bounced back and shifting really improved. Not saying we didn't miss a gear or something somewhere but we all did 100% better today than yesterday.
Monday we start orientation. Apparently it is going to be a big class as there are 18 people scheduled to be there.
Overall, I have to say MTI was a very good experience. I have read other posts about company training versus private training and all I can compare it to is MTI. I got plenty of time behind the wheel, both in backing and driving. The instructors were thorough and patient. Greg and Dave did an amazing job with us I think.
I am really looking to get through orientation and start the real training with Handymandan. -
I stopped in Thursday morning to talk to Greg about students. I saw a couple students but I think they both had trainers. Not sure if one of them was you or not.
