The reason it is the highest paying account is because they need to retain their drivers. Not alot of guys will apply when they know tey gotta go into the city. When JB does get your account, they will definitely lower the weekly wages BUT they will have more than enough drivers and equipment for the account. BTW- When Cardinal underbid us on the local flatbed ( home depot) in NY the first thing they did was call Ryder and order 130 tractors ASAP! Nothing like telling the customer YES! and lying through your teeth. The smaller companies WISH they could do the things JB does.

So, where should I look?
I've been with JB DCS for 7 months now. I drove OTR before for a different company and didn't average more than 2000 miles per week. Now, being on this dedicated acct: I drive about 1200 miles per week; I'm home every other night; and I still take home ~$900 per week. Now that I've gotten well over 1 yr driving experience, I'm looking to go to a different company. But, my OTR experience has me really gun-shy about getting the miles I need to make the same or better money.
I've looked through a dozen or so companies and eliminated a lot. Some of the ones that are still on the list are Dean Foods, Crete, and US Xpress (with reservations). Thoughts on others I should look at? -
You should never be looking at the number of miles per week if on a DCS or FMS account. This will vary, along with the cpm for different accounts. I would say that 35% of my pay is nnot in the form of miles. You should also check their website to find other accounts before leaving the company.

I was replying to Truck N Tech's post from a month ago. I just didn't hit the "Reply with Quote" button.
He suggested that folks running these DCS accts could do better if they looked around. Which is what I am doing. -
If you have been driving for more than a year, you could do better than DCS, but then again, you could apply to a bad company, and do much worse too. Be careful when deciding where to apply.
This site is a good place to start, and then you should try Glass Door. Just google "Glass Door Job Reviews". I looked up some bad companies I know of, and they all have ratings of 2 or 2.5 stars. J B Hunt has 3 stars. To be honest, I would have to agree with that rating, even though I would give them 1 star from my own memories. The company I am with now has a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5, and I feel that is fair too. By what I see there, their website has a pretty accurate rating system. -

on the JB website, now. I see a couple regional opportunities that I'd consider. Do you know how long a person has to be in one position in order to move to another position within the company?
