The only part of the new rules that'll have any real effect on drivers is the 2 periods of 0000-0500 requirement (or whatever the heck the hours are.) Many of us love to run at night because of decreased traffic, easier parking at TSs, etc. All this is gonna make us do is sit longer and drive during the day, which is outside our normal hours of operation anyway... makes no sense at all.

If your NE metro then your carrier should compensate you for it!! As in more per mile and stop pay; if not then it may be time to move on.

As much as I dont like Heartland and EPES, they are two that I know of that pay a bonus for NE loads.

Last thread I saw that you started you were leaving trucking because things were so bad and the sky was falling.

Now the sky is falling again.

You should change your name to Chicken Little.

As for me, it won't affect me in the least. I run recap after the first week anyway and the 30 minute break will actually help as I will have no excuses for not doing a little walking after stopping to return the rent on my morning coffee.

Given the choice between the two, I've heard much better about EPES. Don't get me wrong, I was compensated reasonably (typically brought home $1100-$1500/week one year) ...just pointing out that not only is it possible to roast your 70 in 5 days, in some markets it's sort of the norm.

Not that it's really relevant to the discussion, but I don't and won't work OTR, especially for a mega. More and more, the money is found at the local to regional level, particularly with dedicated accounts (excluding LTL's which I have no experience with). Currently I'm a gasfield driver, and don't really spend that much time on-road anyway. :)

Is this the "I wanna complain about something" thread? Seems that this HOS change has everyone's underwear in a bunch. Hey guys, go home for two days, or sleep whenever you want. That first day you will get some hours back, and the second day, you will get some more hours back. You probably don't need a 34 once you get 20 hrs back on your 70 clock. If you do it weekly, then those two days of zero time will always be those two days with zero time and you will always have time on your clock. I havn't taken a 34 in over 6 months, don't need to. Run 3-4 weeks straight with time coming back every day. If my days at home don't count toward a 34, oh well..... guess I will have to make those 23 hours on the 70 clock work.........

You know, the more I think about this, the new ruling ACTUALLY encourages you to put MORE hours in, follow alone and tell me if I am off base here.

If you were had a couple of days in and had a day of, breakdown, held at delivery, sick, etc. in most cases, at least around here (we are not on a real tight schedule) you would be inclined to take another 34 for a fresh reset.

However now, without being able to do that, I will have some drivers putting on more miles, because now they will only take the ONE DAY off and then roll their hours.

I realize that in both cases that you are still going to have 70 hrs to work with, but with TWO 34 resets in a week, chances are you are not going to hit your seventy, but with a 34 at the start of the week and then one day off and roll your hours, I could see times when it would be easy to max out.

Am I looking at something wrong here?

You can still take a 34 hr restart once a week, it's not like you lose it all together. Like I have said before, I don't see where the one restart a week should really affect any one. The whole benefit to the restart is to be able to run hard take 34 hrs off and get your hrs back, if someone is setting around for two 34 hr periods in a week, I don't think they are worried about running out of hrs.

And the fact that you can go three weeks continuous without restart, means you average 8.75 hrs a day. Your post reads like your being a little ####y, like you know something no once else does. To me it sounds like you haven't figured out the harder you run, the more you get paid.
