OK I want to buy a single axle day cab and put two drop axles under it to run LEGALLY 86,600 here in Kansas. I know it will need stretched and so forth. If I buy a tractor that has a GVW of 65,000 say can I run it with 86,600 after modifications? I say yes after reading some posts yesterday.

Maybe start with a straight truck. Prolly a few single axle grain trucks around there, might be able to find a deal.

here in pa you would probly have to take it to a state inspection place to verify the changes in the weight it can handle just a guess

No a bad idea at all, but are they class 8 trucks and how much is a fifth wheel installed?

Yeah I was wondering about that, any flatlanders out there that know about Kansas?

Hmm, I think some would be class 8. Not sure how much a fifth wheel would be, might be able to find a good one at a salvage yard, I figure installation wouldn't be much worse than adding axles, and probably be easier than lengthening the frame, IMO.
