Yeah, but jb, hes been driving for 1 YEAR! hes already got it figured out!......

silenteagle,The reason most of us don't like the new HOS is because we were doing fine before all this b.s. HOS change. anyone that can honestly say these new changes will fix ANYTHING needs to file for disability or head to the local factory or gas station and get a job and stay the hell away from a truck. as for the restart crap and 30 min break, that can make a difference in a extra load a day for me. that's a difference between a 800 dollar day versus a 1200 dollar day sometimes........i'll gladly work a longer week and then take a break when I'M ready. Its called WORK boys.......shouldn't need a babysitter to tell when to go nap.....

Yeah that's a pretty good deal, so what do run, 500 miles a week. That would be $2000 on the low side of your scale. Then say at 6.5 miles per mile fuel $292. Leaves you with $1708. $700 for l/ s cut.

This would leave a lot of hours left that you could run, would you not agree, that if you ran another 500 miles you would double your pay, which equals more money, which is what I was saying. Or is a 1000 miles a week killing yourself for someone.

1500-2000 is plenty for me..I have a wonderful home life and personal life..I intend on keeping that way..There is more to life than chasing the fantasy of ''getting rich''..We do not get rich in trucking,we make a living....

Drivers forget that there is a whole wonderful life out there, besides viewing it through a windshield..

Some one must be getting rich off you, 1500 miles, and $1000 for 250 mile trips. That's six trips, so on the low side of what you said you are making on them trips that's $6000 minus around $850-$900 for fuel. So that means you have $4100 in expenses after fuel, every week, someone is getting rich. You could pay off a $213,000 dollar truck in a year.

My point is that even if you just take a day and a half off, you will get hours back to keep on running, just not a fresh clock. I am sure that people will make it work.

Everyone tried to get it blocked, but just like Obamacare (which I think is the single worst thing to happen to our country) it is the law of the land and we have to learn how to make it work. As for the 30 minute break, someone here is going to say that on a daily basis they drive continuously for 11 hours without stopping? without eating?

as for the $$$, I had my first year in the 6 digit range, running smarter, not harder. I am not a company driver, and I am not chasing miles. I look for higher revenue per mile so I don't have to run like a rabbit chasing the carrot. Yes, I was being ####y. Just because I have been trucking for 1.5 years does not mean that I havn't done alot of time and task management in my 45 years of living. Looking at the argument, I think it is a rediculous one. Sorry to offend, but I think that there are solutions and work arounds to this and if you game a few scenarios you will find a suitable solution for your situation. Griping and complaining about it is not going to magically appear a solution for you, and you know the government isn't going to give it to ya either.......

I don't think anybody is saying they run 11 straight..although I and many others have done it before. As I said earlier it really affects the guy who takes 2 or 3 ten minute breaks, who now may only take 1 thirty minute break in order to remain just as productive

That depends on many factors, for me I only drive 8.5 hours per day and not logged more than 11 hours total for the day, 5 day work week.

So running harder does not make me any more money, after all these years I have found running harder pays less then running smarter.
