Hey, it covered his fuel
-
But did it cover the cost of fixing the load shift?
-
Well that was not figured into the cost when he booked the load. They didn't teach him to do that part in driving school

Looks like the suspension on the right side of that raggedy POS gave out because each layer has wedged dunnage and straps as it should and all the straps still look tight. That pipe looks lite but it acutally heavy as hell so when the suspension gave that middle layer found a weak 4x4 and snapped it. Happens to me all the time hauling joint and casing. I've had this happen on a trailer with dry rotted air bags. One blew and the other couldn't handle it so it went as well. All 4 bags ended up being replaced. Lucky me it was at the shipper on a pot hole filled lot with a standard 48' spread and I wasn't done being loaded.

I didn't read all the posts but that can happen when trying to turn the tractor in a extreme jack knife position even at a crawl ...The prevention dolly down the landing gear a few inches from the ground as to protect the load from tipping to far .I've done it a few times ended up just dragging the one side along the ground till the turn was completed learned that from a old hand.

Don't know if that's a great idea wouldn't take much of a rise in the ground which you mightn't pick up to drive landlegs into the ground and it doesn't take a real lot to bend them or the supports. You just have to use your head when you are turn really sharp and not drop your clutch or brake to hard. Also if turning sharp on hills you have to consider what may happen. Being I do on site deliveries to road construction and builing sites tight turns happen all the time, trailer rocks back and forth on pivots on the plate. Next truck I buy will have a ball race ring under plate to keep it aligned with trailer as you turn which will help

Sometimes you get to a road where turning is your only option and dragging the gear didnt hurt it and even if it did happen to tear the gear off (rare) its still cheaper than the substantial damage to the load, truck and costs incurred of reloading it.

May have to go to Harbor Freight and buy a big castor wheels for the landing gear. That'll get me some looks.
