Hi all.
I am a NG infantryman, been back about a year from my second OEF tour. Had a few seasonal and contract jobs that came to nothing so decided to try the transportation industry. I just graduated from CR Englands trucking school in Indiana about two weeks ago. I had to leave there because of the time I was going to have to wait for a trainer to pick me up(about three weeks) and that was going to make me violate my SUTA status with my unit. My training manager told me I couldnt go home during my phase training for my drills or they would terminate me. Even though it was their fault that I was going to violate my SUTA status if I stayed. Oh well, no biggie, I just transferred my license back to my home state and found a company to work for there.
I start my orientation and training with Werner Trucking out of Allentown, PA on Monday.
Any legitimate helpful tips for a new driver?

Welcome to TTR, thank you for your service.
Good luck with your new job and stay safe -
Hey man... welcome. Im 99.9 percent sure that they are required by LAW to make sure you have the time off for your drill schedule. Especially if they knew you were a drilling guardsman from the beginning. Might want to ask some of the other vets on here about that. Im still new around here myself and just got back from OEF myself.

I agree . You're better off away from England but now they will probably bill you for the training . I have you have documentation of their refusal to allow you to leave to meet your SUTA status . They should be reported .

I have all the documentation. Im not interested in taking anyone to court or reporting anyone, other than to tell vets to stay away from England. I wasnt planning on staying with them anyhow. Just long enough to get my cdl and a bit of time behind the wheel. If they decide to try and bill me, then maybe I might get the JAO involved, but otherwise I'm not worried about it.

hopefully you got a hard document stating they won't let u leave for drill, if u do and they try billing you, let them know you will be contacting your JAG, and using ESGR and USERRA, and then do it. CRE is a bottom feeder who preys on the uninformed. Did you sign any contracts and is there any fine print? For what its worth, the Werner drivers I've met seem happier then the CRE drivers.
Welcome to the party grunt, lots of us here.MNdriver Thanks this. -
Contact ESGR when you get home asap. Do not let this slide.
