Assuming YOU"RE paying for the school... you can dump $4000-$6000 into a third party school or community college, and what you get is the ability to pass the road test for your CDL. Barely. They can't dump the money into on-road time to turn you into a truck driver.

If you go through PSD at Prime, you'll get that CDL (we'll advance you enough to live on until you get it.) then hire you at some of the best training wages in the industry.
30,000 miles later, you'll have the skill to be a solo driver, AND you'll be getting paid better than dang near all of the industry for a starting driver. Oh, and after a year, that driving school tuition is waived.

So, it a choice between dump a lot of money into a CDL with not much skill at that point, or keep the money, get paid, and end up with a pretty good starting job in this industry.

It's one year plus the training time. You lock yourself into cell phone contracts for longer than that.

Since nobody's asked... One job for the continuous 3 years? If that's the case that's any future employers wet dream. Shows you're not a job hopper.

Been out of work for a few months had a job then out of work... Could be an issue.

The instructions the doc gave me were something like "Stoop down and take a few steps". I didn't have to limbo under a bar or anything. I doubt I lowered the top of my head more than 9 or 10 inches.

I was concerned with the walk due to my weight, but it was no problem at all.
