What do you mean by that? Examples?
-
I guess that is true, I wasn't thinking about regional trucks.

There is ZERO issue with turning down NYC or Long Island loads, they have always asked me if I wanted to go there prior to dispatch. Any other load is forced however, turning down a load going to any other city is a problem.
-
Used to be a "home time guarantee" now it's a "home time request"
This is from their site:
A driver request for home time will be processed as follows:
Upon dispatch of any load after completion of a home time period, the driver will be allowed to request a home time into the future, not to be less than 7 days from the date of the home time request. Your dispatch manager is at that time obligated to return the driver to his/her home location for a period of not less than 36 hrs. to fulfill the home time request.
Its listed under the home time guarantee link. The drivers I've talk to say thats not an issue. Of couse, if your alittle far out there and based on the freight area, they can't do it at the drop of a hat. I'm sure they work you to that point to get you there asap unless emergency arises. If thats what the site says then it should be the same way. Guess what it means is by request they will get you home as quick as possible based on your location and amount of time you give them. How else would you do it other than request. Any other way would be sorta rude on your part, then, you and the dispatcher will have a real nice relationship then. -
I usally request home tinme at least 2-3 weeks in advance but I stay out 4-6 weeks as well I have never had a problem getting home when requested
-
I normally don't have an issue getting home either. I never said I did. I just stated that it's now called a request not a guarantee. And that the 5 cents comes from the dispatchers pay. To get home time you send in a preset form. So there isn't a way to be either rude or nice about it unless you send a free form and ##### about it. Which I do not do.
-
Never meant to imply that you said anything like that. Just wanted to show that based on their site it shows a guarantee that upon your request or at least thats how I'm reading that. I'm sure if you just out of the blue said you wanted to be home in say 3 days, based, on your location and freight, they couldn't guarantee anything. I think what they are saying is a reasonable upfront notice can be guaranteed.

(tried to PM g22mac, but I don't have enough posts, so here it is... anyone can respond... )hey bro, just saw your going through millis' training. I'm going to be going to Richfield June 3rd... just wondering if you can tell me a little bit what its like. I know that a broad question, but I hear some CDL school/companies treat you like you're in boot camp, how it it at Millis? I would figure that since you're paying $500 they might treat you like a human being at least. Also, when is the first time you get paid? I know the three weeks in the hotel, are unpaid... just wondering how that works.

Millis training is nothing like boot camp, quite opposite really. Very laid back, and you will do your fair share of laughing. Above are a few threads that describes the experience quite well. There are quite a few of these threads on this forum.
