Year One Reality

Well im young im 23years olds and i drive a 72mph truck. I feel like a ######!!!. Joking i don't plan on trying to buy another truck for years and that's even if i still wanna try to buy one in like 2-3years. I make some decent money doing what i do. I get threw the house most of the time. With owning my own truck comes a lot more work. Fuel/Repairs/Permits/plates/insurance.......... Makes me not wanna do it i love being a company driver yea im forced dispatch but hey thats part of working im not out here just for money. Im out here cuz i love what i do. Most of my family was truckers and i grew up around them.

Wow, you're really willing to work hard & stay out 3-4 weeks at a time??? Try 6 weeks to 3 months if you really want to make $$$. Remember, if the wheels ain't rolling you ain't makin money!!!

 

Lol oh hell our generation isn't that bad to be honest. We still had parents that raised us to work hard for what we want. Its the generation below ours. I'm almost 22 and I can definitely tell you your concerns are justified about owning your own rig. It is a lot of expense and I can almost guarantee you even though I gross more than you do you take home more than I do. It does have its perks by all means but its a lot of hard work and its also 24/7. I can pick and choose where I go and what I haul but sometimes I wonder if its worth all the headache. But it is nice to be your own boss. I still have some people that look at me at my age and tell me to my face you didn't work for that. To them I simply reply I wish I had a video camera of the hours I've spent building our business. Our family has put in more hours than we all care to count, its been many sleepless nights, and its taken a long time to get on the right track a lot of struggling trial and error. Overall I enjoy it. I like having a triple digit ride, don't have to worry about an e log, and I like having the freedom if I could do it all over again I would change some things but not much. Its all in how hard you want to work how frustrated you want to get and how many migraine pills you want to pop lol. I don't do it for the money obviously as I told you I'm almost positive you take home more than I do, but to be honest idk if I could handle having g somebody telling me what to do when to do it and how to do it. Not saying that's how your job is but me and bosses never did get along. It was always let me do my job and don't be breathing down my neck when I do it lol.

 

That's funny! 22-23 year olds talking about the younger generation! LOL

 

There's working your way up and there's getting screwed. There's no reason you can't make decent money from the start. I don't know why people here constantly tell new guys it's ok to make peanuts your first year.

Just do all of the research you can and figure out which one is the best for you. Plenty of us did fine from the start, it just takes some extra work and not just accepting the first thing that comes along.
