I replaced all fuel lines and the check valve myself on a 12.7 Detroit in a Century...what a nightmare!
Should be a LOT easier on a Star though.

go with the preheater on the davco
-
You mean because there is a foot between the back of the head and the firewall. When I had Columbias for my drivers, I hoped and prayed I never had to do the return hose.
-
So will the Davco replace both filters, or should I keep the secondary too. It is an FF 5206.
-
All factory spec-ed trucks that came with a Davco have only that filter, no secondary.
-
What filter should I run in it if I run it solo?
-
Here is Davco's chart on what filter to run. You can cross reference if you are using another brand of filter. I happen to prefer Donaldson filters, so the P550467 is the one I use in my Davco for my Series 60.

I run a 7 micron wix. Forget the number off the top of my head.
-
I run the Davco, along with the MBE fuel filter. Would never own a truck without one myself.

If you run the davco exclusively make sure you run the 7 micron filters. They seem to last about 15,000 miles.
