Ltl is kind of tough at first. (nothing worse than a truckload outfit though) once you get some time under your belt. It's all gravy. It's like being retired with a job. Reminds me of the military. It sucks until you reach Sargent status then it's gravy. E5 and above ain't nothing but a waste of tax dollars

    CenutryClass and Marksteven Thank this.

It's gravy almost right away if you get on with a good company who will actually work you and not put you on an extra board or part time. The smaller regional LTL's that probably nobody has heard of outside of their region of the country are usually better about this than the Mega-LTL's like Conway, ABF, Old Dominon, etc.

Am I missing something here? Or do not all these tilt bars have a 1/2" retention bolt/pin that locks in place with a tension keeper? Never had one fall. Never even heard of it until this thread...

    ACH1130 Thanks this.

Yes they do but some probably older trailers have hook instead of a safety pin which safety pin is harder to come out. I'll take a pic. These things can come out hitting bumps. I've had one almost unhook, bolt pin just needed to walk its way out.

I thought you were joking, but after looking at your signature pic, I think you may be serious...
Not the best picture, but if you look at the front of each of the pups, you'll see a bar which slides up and down and is held in place with a pin (at least on our pups) that goes through a hole. Bring the bar almost to the ground, then line up whichever hole fits closest to how low you want the bar, then slide the pin through. Helps prevent the pup from falling forward if a forklift or heavy piece of freight is placed on the nose of an otherwise empty trailer.

    Here you go.
This sucker came unhooked last night. Pos Hanger. Caught it before the pin left the hole when I stopped to grab a soda. Lucky me.

thanks for the pics guys, but we dont have anything like that here.. we have a rule of no more than 2400 lbs in the nose of a pup. And i think our landing gears are set back to prevent tipping. But you learn something new everyday. One thing not to get a preventable or a writeup for...
